I started using Clorox Green Works about 3 months ago and at first was a little apprehensive because the scent is very mild. I grew up thinking if it didn't smell strong then it wouldn't clean properly. After all in my younger days my Mom used Pinesol, Bleach and many lye based products to clean in the kitchen and bathroom. In my older years my nose has gotten quite sensitive and there are also the cat, 3 dogs and 3 birds to worry about, so if this stuff worked I would be doing real good.

Clorox Green Works

This is very simple to use and with a light spray on my counters, sink and stove gets the job done. Plus there is no harsh chemical smell to deal with like many cleaners I have used, just a light pleasant smell. On some of the dried up stuff I let it set for a few minutes before wiping it off and it seems to work just as well as any others I have used in the past.

According to the bottle it is made from coconut, lemon and corn based products and is safe for the environment. It does contain corn based ethanol and is an eye irritant so don't go rubbing your eyes until you wash your hands after using it!

Price wise it is about the same as other cleaners but being that it is "Green" the real value is way more than traditional cleaners available. I am not a fanatic about being green but I try to help in any way I can and Clorox has made that a lot easier to do.

Bottom Line

Green Works by Clorox is a great way to not only get your house clean but it is a good start to helping protect the world in which we live. Plus it won't break your wallet with high prices either. I even clean around the pet bowls without fear of poisoning the animals with bleach or other harsh cleaners and that peace of mind is something I can live with.

Overall I am quite pleased in how it cleaned and I will continue to use it around the house in my kitchen, bathrooms and around the pet bowls. I like that I am being "Green" and my nose appreciates not smelling harsh cleaners anymore too!

It could be the lemon doing that to you, I know lemon pledge gives me a sneezing fit but this is a lighter scent and doesn't bother me.....It is not any great deal better than most but the fact its natural is what keeps me buying it. Sorry it gave you such a fit though, that is just not any fun....

Ron, I thought this did a great job of cleaning (not any different/less than any other commercial cleaner), but man, did I ever sneeze up a storm every time I used this. I figure I'm sensitive to some natural ingredient in it, so I passed it on to my mother in law, who loves it. :) Hey, it was certainly worth a try!

I usually make my own "green" cleaners with lemongrass, tea tree, eucalyptus oils and water, but your review makes me want to give this a try. Thanks for the info., Great review!!

mrssnell wrote on Oct 27, 2008 at 3:56PM

Thanks for the review, Kid Kansas. I've seen this cleaner on my local WalMart shelves, and have been toying with the idea of trying it. Like you, I grew up thinking if it didn't clear the sinuses, it wouldn't clean the counters. LOL

I'm all for anything that protects the environment and still does its job in terms of cleaning. :) I'll give it a whirl.

BayouBengal wrote on Oct 27, 2008 at 3:32PM

Awesome! I'll have to look for this!
