I will be the first to admit to someone that I am not the best at keeping my apartment clean, and at times I will let it a while before I give it the cleaning it really needs. This does not include the bathroom and bedroom, which I try to keep as clean as possible, for some unknown reason. Maybe it is because those are the places I sleep and get clean, but regardless of the reason I like to keep them clean. When it comes to the bathroom, I am pretty weird when it comes to things like the toilet seat, which I like to keep very clean. Yes, I admit it, when I am in public, I am one of those people that has to put down toilet paper on the seat before I feel safe sitting there. And yes I know the odds of getting anything are rare, but until I can be guaranteed I won't catch anything I will refrain from sitting right on the seat.
The only reason it is different in my house, is that I frequently clean off the seat and surrounding area using Clorox disinfecting wipes. With cats in the house you never know what they are dragging in, and I don't trust them not to dirty up the bathroom, so I am always using these wipes on basically everything in there. There are intended for this type of use, and boy to I put them to it. Among their uses are use on exterior toilet surfaces, counters and cupboards, appliance exteriors, doorknobs, showers and tubs, telephones and computers, and sinks and faucets. Just about every one of those uses has been tried out by me, with the exception of my cell phone which I only use basic water and a cloth on. If they added it to the list of acceptable uses... who knows... I might try it.
Why do I trust the Clorox disinfecting wipes with just about everything? Well they give you a 99.9% guarantee of killing all bacteria within 30 seconds of use. With a selling point like that, someone like me will always jump at the chance to put it to the test. So, besides the bathroom, I am always using these things on doorknobs and the sink itself to try and keep the germ count as close to zero as I can get it. No product is perfect of course, and it comes down to the user a lot of the time, and how well they use the product. Clorox is also a brand that I have trusted with other products in the past, so it was an easy step for me to begin using these wipes, and they have now become a main-stay on my bathroom counter.
The Clorox Disinfecting wipes that I go with are the lemon fresh scented ones. They are also available in several other scents, but I like the smell of freshly cut lemons, and this gets pretty close to it, so I have stuck with this one only. The wipes themselves are bleach free, so it is all right on just about any surface. They do warn against using it on unpainted wood though, to prevent against damaging any of the wood. If it has been painted though, this product is perfectly safe to use on it. The package I normally get comes with 35 wet wipes in it, which are pulled through a small, self closing hole, on the top of the container. This one ran be $3.99 at the store, but I am sure I would pay more if it meant getting the product. Because of its track record, and the safe feeling it gives me, I highly recommend this product as something in the cleaning closet.
