Made for the Clip Flashlight Tent from Sierra Designs, this footprint protects the base of your tent from the wear and tear it experiences by lying directly on the ground. The footprint also can act as a an ultra-light tent in combination with the rain fly from your Clip Flashlight to create a tent that weighs more than a pound less than the standard Clip Flashlight tent. This is a handy choice for people camping in warmer weather who want a tent, but don't want too much weight.
The footprint weighs in at only 3 ounces while the standard Clip Flashlight tent weighs in at 3 pounds and 13 ounces. If you go with the ultra-light tent version of just the fly and the footprint, the total weight is 2 pounds and 6 ounces.
I'm not much an ultra-light tent user, so I generally am using the footprint as extra protection for the Clip Flashlight. With this in mind, I'm really glad I've gotten the footprint. While the wear and tear hasn't stopped, the footprint has made a significant difference, especially in wetter weather or in damp conditions, I've noticed the floor of the tent is much dryer.
The footprint is probably one of the reasons that my Clip Flashlight tent has lasted for over 12 years and that will ensure that the footprint travels with me wherever I take the Clip Flashlight.
My Thoughts
In my mind, if you have a Clip Flashlight tent, the Clip Flashlight Footprint from Sierra Designs can only improve it. It provides a tough, waterproof barrier between the ground and the floor of your tent and it helps extend the life of the tent.
