Clinique makes quality products that are customizable to many different types of skin (from sensitive, to oily, to combination, etc.) and of course products with this amount of success and customization come at a premium. As frugal as I tend to be, there are some things on which one just can't scrimp -- and effective facial care is surely one of them.

Can you wash your face with soap and water and effectively get your makeup off, racoon-eyes and all? Yes. Eventually. You can slather some Intensive Care moisturizer on there while you're at it, too, but at what cost? Dry, damaged skin with clogged pores and/or *gasp* wrinkles? No, thanks, none for me. I'll stick with my Clinque Take The Day Off in the purple bottle. It even takes waterproof mascara off with ease (and without an oily mess)! Follow it up with the face wash in the green tube (or, my preference, the pump bottle) and you're good to go in a matter of minutes. It's not one-stop shopping but the effectiveness of this combo simply can not be beaten.

In fact, since I've discovered this particular product line, I won't be going back to any of the "daily facial" or other assorted pad make-up removers. Haven't they always seemed unnecessarily messy and costly? With Clinique Take The Day Off make up remover and face wash combo, it's easy to control just how much of the product that you use, so none goes to waste. Just dab Clinique Take The Day Off onto cotton balls or pads (or toilet paper, in a pinch), don't forget to shake the bottle gently to mix the layers, then hold the wet pad/ball to your eye for a three count before just gently wiping away the day; no pulling, no scrubbing, and therefore no trauma to your skin. You'll feel clean, plain and simple. Just clean, clear, and shining. Two pumps of the face wash is all you need for a luxurious foaming wash; never a greasy or tight feeling. Just clean, clean, clean!

Everything from foundation to mascara to liner and lipstick, gone in a flash; no pore-clogging wrinkle-inducing residue.

I follow Take The Day Off with the Clinique three-step program (wash, astringent, moisturizer) and feel cleaner than a whistle. While it's not necessary that you use all three steps, the products are chemically designed to work together and enhance one another. This quick (and painless, but perhaps for your wallet) process has helped ward off signs of stress and aging. True, you might pay a little more for Clinique than you would some generic drugstore brands, but the effects will be noteworthy.

Consider this our little about-face-frugal-beauty-secret; it's better to pay up front for something that works than multiple times over searching through the many brands that don't! I couldn't recommend this product line more.

I have oily skin to start off. and i love clinique's gel moisturizer. but i absolutely HATE thier gel facewash.

the texture is okay, though a bit thick/concentrated--a tiny bit will lather up to a lot.

but my problem with it is that it doesn't come off!! in the shower, under the spray of the water, it takes a good few seconds with scrubbing for it to wash off.

washing it in the sink? forget about it. i always make a huge mess trying to wash it off.

and being a teen suffering from acne, the lack of salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, or SOMETHING to treat acne in addition helped convince me to never buy it again.

i mean, i LOVE their Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, but their gel facewash is a fail.

the other thing is that they don't have another facewash--they have four toners, but only two (or was it only one?) facewash for all skin types. (but to give them credit, *they DO have a facewash for teens*, though i've never tried it)

Not My Favorite

Comments about Clinique Face Wash:

Clinique's traditional cleansing bar is far more cost-effective and provides superior results. Less portable than the travel-sized cleansing bar and much messier to tote alone on vacation. Far too easy to dispense more product than is needed, which is wasteful. I purchased this product once, but I can assure you that will NOT happen again.

Effectiveness
Nowhere near as effective as traditional clinique bar. It left my skin feeling odd and I needed to use toner to scrub off the residue I felt on my skin. Additionally, I needed to scrub vigorously to remove makeup and still was unable to do so with this cleanser alone.

Ease of Application
Emulsifying the cleanser with a drop or two of water proved messy and inefficient, much of the product dripping into the sink rather than working effectively on my pre-moistened face.

Scent
Surprisingly, a bit more scent than I expect from a Clinique product.

My holy grail face wash

Comments about Clinique Face Wash:

Thanks to my mom buying me my first Clinique face wash when I was 12 years old! Because I have been hooked ever since. Through the years between then and now I have tried dozens of face washes and nothing really comes close to what Clinique offers. Their face wash products are extremely gentle on the skin, non irritating and good for those with sensitive skin. It does a wonderful job of cleansing away dirt and makeup buildup from the day, but doesn't over strip the natural oils from your face. It is very easy to apply, and feels good on the skin. While the price might seem steep to some people that are used to drugstore prices, I feel like these face washes are very long lasting and worth the extra money. I really like that it doesn't have any strong or strange smell as some face washes do, this is not annoying at all, just a simple clean and fresh scent! I recommend Clinique face wash to anyone, but especially those with combination or dry skin, and those looking for a great gentle face cleanser. This will always be my favorite, I haven't found anything better so far!

Effectiveness
It's so gentle and give you a fresh feeling after using it.

The soap comes in a liquid form with a pump. It takes a very little to clean your face so it lasts a long time.

Scent
It's not strong just right.

Clinique Face Wash is a step above others.

By

from Houston, TX

Comments about Clinique Face Wash:

Clinique Face Wash is a gel formulation that lathers with the use of water and a gentle scrubbing.  I use my hands or a very soft cloth.  It is very gentle, cleanses well, rinses clean and leaves your skin feeling soft and supple.  You only have to use a little to remove grime and makeup quickly. I always follow up with a cold water rinse and one of Clinique's many facial creams to keep my skin looking young. I use a variety of their face creams depending upon the condition of my skin. It comes in a set of three which I always buy as I like to keep one in my travel make up bag so I'll always have it on hand.  It is expensive but is well worth the price as since you do not use a large amount to accomplish the job, it lasts for a long well.  I have recommended it to friends and acquaintences with very good reviews.  I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a gentle but thorough cleanser.

Clinique = Clean and Fresh Skin

By

from Puyallup, WA

Comments about Clinique Face Wash:

I was given a sample size of Clinique Liquid Facial Soap (mild) from my Grandmother who received it in a bonus gift. I used this face soap and absolutely loved it! It was easy to rinse off and didn't smell of harsh chemicals.  I was pleasantly surprised at how easily it removed makeup and dirt and really deep cleaned my face.  I haven't noticed any break-out since using this product either.  I actually love this travel size because I was able to throw it in my overnight bag during our last vacation!  Overall, I would describe this product as light and gentle and it leaves your skin feeling soft (not dried out at all!).  I have not purchased this product in the stores because I have only used the sample sizes but I'm sure it is worth the price.  I like a good deal but this product seems like it would be worth any price. I would highly recommend it to friends and family.  By the way it is 100% fragrance free which makes sense for a product that is going on your face!

Clinique line is a definite keeper!

By

from Manchester, NH

Comments about Clinique Face Wash:

The Clinique beauty line is a solid investment for acne care and general overlal skin health.   If you are interested in a product with reliable results then Clinique is the product for you.  Their wide variety of components allows you to choose the most specific product necessary for your perosnla needs and all at a reasonable cost.  My first introduction to Clinique began with their facial soap.  A common product you think, but not with Clinique.  The soap not only does a great job cleansing but works to provide a removal of oil on the skin and in the pores while at the same tim epreventing an excessive drying out of the face as well.  The reduction of acne is evident as the skin is cleared of unwanted oils and not dried out to cause you to need to remooisturize.  But the moisturizers offed by Clinique do a greta job of given your skin moisture without over doing it.  Over all I owuld highly recommend this line of beauty products.

Great Face Wash for Winter

By

from Edmond, OK

Comments about Clinique Face Wash:

Clinique face wash is great for these dry winter months. I normally have very oily skin but in the wintertime myskin is so dry that Clinique face wash is the only thing that works. You will need a separate makeup remover, as it is not great at removing makeup. I use Clinique face wash morning and night and it is not a harsh facial cleanser.

Clinique offers 4 different types of cleanser based on your skin type, so if your skin is very dry or very oily they have a face wash made just for you. Even if you are acne prone, they have a face wash for that too. It is also not a have cleanser so it doesn't feel like there is residue left on your face after you have cleaned it.
