Clinique All About Eyes comes in two forms: regular, and "rich", which is a thicker, cream form. I have been using the regular All About Eyes. I do have a small jar of the "rich" All About Eyes that I will use when I run out of the regular product.
I do not have a regular, favorite eye cream, but when I received this product in a Clinique gift that contained multiple products, I knew wanted to try it.
I was using All About Eyes almost daily, and I was happy with how the skin around my eyes looked. It seemed to moisturize nicely and did not cause any skin problems in the area--no redness, irritation, or blemishes.
Later, I fell away from a regular routine of applying it daily. One day, I was up late crying. I then woke up the next day with puffy eyes. I used this product and it seemed to help! While the effects were not immediate, later that day, my under eye area looked normal again. Granted, I cannot be sure that my eyes would not have de-puffed on their own, but this product may have sped up the process. Without an experiment, I cannot be sure!
I like the fact that the small container I have has lasted me months! A little bit is all you need, and in fact, if you use too much you will need to wipe off the excess so that your eyes do not feel greasy. If you use just a little, though, you should not have this problem.
Know that All About Eyes leaves a residue around the eyes that will affect eye makeup application. For example, if I apply eye liner after using All About Eyes, it will wipe off more easily and be more difficult to apply. Due to this, I will sometimes only apply All About Eyes on my lower lids and under eye area rather than around my entire eye. Avoiding the upper eyelid allows me to still apply liner and shadow without any negative effects from the All About Eyes.
I also like the fact that All About Eyes is not scented. I do not like using scented lotions on my face. In fact, this is one trait I like about Clinque products in general. Also, since this product is applied near the eyes, I would not feel comfortable using a fragranced product in that area. I think it could be irritating to have fragrance near the eye.
Since this product does not contain a sunscreen, I usually prefer to use it as a night eye cream, but as I mentioned, if my eyes are puffy in the morning, I will use it as a day eye cream too. You should know that this product contains caffeine, but I personally have never experienced jitters or sleeplessness from using it!
As I stated above, I received this product in a Bonus Time gift. Thus, it was not truly a free sample. At $47 an oz, though, I doubt I would purchase it as a stand-alone product. For those who can afford it, however, I would recommend it based on the fact that it will last a long time.
I look forward to trying the All About Eyes Rich!
