Clif Bars taste like somebody just whipped them up in the kitchen and in fact somebody's mother's kitchen is where these healthy goodies first saw the light of day during the infancy of Clif Bars, Incorporated. Today Clif Bars have proven to be a success and come in two types: Energy and Protein.
The Energy Bars (which I have tried) come in an amazing variety of flavors including: Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Crunch, Chocolate Chip, Crunchy Peanut Butter, Oatmeal Raisin Walnut, Cool Mint Chocolate, Carrot Cake, and my favorite ... Apricot.
One Apricot Bar (one serving) contains 230 calories with 30 calories from fat or three grams total fat, a half gram satured fat, zero cholesterol, 90 mg. sodium, 220 mg. potassium, 48 grams total carbs, five grams dietary fiber, four grams insoluble fiber, 21 grams sugars, 22 grams other carbs and eight grams proteins. (Carbs and sugars are high because this is an energy bar designed to provide strength and also substantial enough for a possible substitute for a light breakfast or lunch.)
Vitamins there are no shortage of including:
100% (D.V.) each Vitamin C and Vitamin E
35% Manganese
30% Vitamin A
25% each Vitamin K, Thiamin (B1), Calcium, Iron and Magnesium
20% each Vitamin B6, Follate, Folic Acid, Folacin, Pantothenic Acid, Phosphorus, Zinc, Selenium
15% each Riboflavin (B2), Niacin (B3), Vitamin B12, Iodine, Copper and Molybdenum
10% each Biotin and Chromium
Basically, what this means is that these bars are healthier than anything I've whipped up in MY kitchen for a long time and they taste good besides.
TASTE TIP:
Like most great energy bars, Clif Bars are a natural for dipping in hot coffee or tea.
