Very Good program and support

5

I just graduated at CIE like month ago and can tell you that the program is awesome and would give 10, but the last part - writing reports, memos and etc found a bit dry. Otherwise the electronics, math and physics is covered absolutely perfect. If you want to learn, there you go... Bruce and Dan are very well trained instructors and always gave me hand as needed and Andy is also very nice and helpful, whenever I had a question. I am really impressed with the system this school build over the years and especially with the program, which is exactly matching what I am doing at work. This education for me was direct fit. Thank you guys. Financial Aid Did not use it.

I'm about half way throughthe BEET degree and find the course material OK. It's not bound in pretty hard cover tomes, but it is the information and education that is important. Quite a bit seems dated until you reallize Calculus is Calculus and Ohm's law doesn't change. I still would like to see an modernization of the materials. As far as the cost - I doubt you could find any four year degree from any other fully acredited source for less.

CIE Electronics Engineering Course Review

5

I have been enrolled in the CIE Electronics Engineering Course since 2008 and am still plugging along. Instructor support is generally good. Don't expect too much help from them on the exam but they do help you working similar problems and explaining concepts. Feedback from them on tests occurs within 24 hours. You get your scores and a detailed answer key assuming you passed the test. If you need help with the more technical Electronics, you may need Bruce or Dan. They are both really good. I paid full tuition $3200 up front but was reimbursed by my company for $2500. The math review has been worth the cost alone. Everything you forgot in Calc 1, 2 and Differential Equations and a whole lot more is covered in this course. My grades are good but what is really pleasing to me is understanding the math I struggled with and helping my kid through two college algebra courses. Plus the Calculus for Electrical Engineering is emphasized all along the way. The program is really well thought out. I have previewed the Transient Analysis Lessons and they are daunting and written by a major college PhD but I am confident in the way the authors get the material across. Time and time again I preview the exams and can do maybe 10% of the problems but the material is so well written by the end of the lesson I understand nearly all of it. The plastic booklets have been criticized as well but I like them better than the old booklets because they open easier and lay flat with less trouble. If your objective is to learn Electronics and all the related math without spending tens of thousands of dollars in tuition this program is for you. My goal is a masters degree in Applied Engineering with a concentration in Mechatronics. Plus, this course prepares me to pass the FE again. So for me, it's pay me now or pay me later. But try getting 5 College Math Courses for $3200

Better than the rest!!

Outstanding school accredited by every major industry they support. The course is is NOT easy, but if you try, read the information and apply your self, you'll make it. Don't listen to the idiots who have bad mouthed this school as it SI WORTH EVERY DIME!! I am currently enrolled and I called major companies in the industry I choose and they ALL said they would accept and respect students who graduated. I do NOT work for the school, just simply a student and a person trying to get ahead in life and with the education I am receiving at CIE, I will do it and I'll do it ahead of everyone else. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT CIE!!!!!!

If you are planning on spending hard earned money for Cleveland Institute of Electronics then think again...please.  These people are on of the biggest rip-offs you can get in online edu.  The "books" are cheap plastic bound copies of the better quality booklets they were using last year.  They "switched" to the crappy booklets in the middle of my course.  No way to have a complete matching set for reference now.  They start you off with chapters with ten test questions to send in (not too bad) then about midway through the course they change to about 30 or more questions to send in making it very hard to complete the course in the 12-18 months allowed.  This is by design so (this they won't tell you) you will quit.  The catch is if you quit (after you have fully paid) YOU DO NOT EVEN GET THE REST OF YOUR BOOKS.  I paid for the complete course UP FRONT and fell behind.  They will not send you a new set of material if you don not complete each book.  If you can't finish, you either have to pay extortion fees to continue or you walk away with NOTHING---not even the cheap booklets for future reference.  Whatever you do do not deal with these people.  Trust me, I have tried both, and a local community tech school is light years ahead of this junk.  You will learn nothing that will help at your job or to get a job.  The material is junk, you can take the test over a hundred time until you guess them right, and you walk away with nothing and CIE walks away with your two grand.  I was fooled by the few good reviews online of CIE but they must have been written by CIE people.  RUN! RUN! RUN!
