Finally, a way to watch movies without the inapproriate content.

I purchased my Clearplay DVD player about 2 years ago. I really enjoy being able to watch movies that have a good storyline but that I would not generally watch because of the adult content and the bad language. It is very easy to use, the filters for new release movies are ready to be downloaded the same week the movies is released for sale. They are easy to download from your computer (you do need to have a subscription with Clearplay), plug the flash drive into the DVD player and it will find the filters for the movie you have put in the player. Even though they mute bad language and skip certain scenes, I ma still able to follow the story without feeling like I have lost part of the plot. When i went to buy my DVD player, there was a choice of 2 models. I chose the 007 because it has the ability to play DVD's from different regions of the world. I am originally from Australia and just by changing the region code, I am able to watch Australian DVD's my sister sends me.

I have tried several different ways to be able to enjoy movies with my family that are free from nudity and profanity.  I greatly appreciate the work of the people at ClearPlay.  They make it hassle-free to enjoy good entertainment.  In addition, their customer support is real and very helpful.

We bought a Clearplay DVD player about four months ago, hoping to use it for the intended purpose of filtering stuff for our child.  From day one we've had problems with it.  The remote is very hard to operate, and the line of sight to the player must be exactly right or it will not read at all.  We had to load the filters on the filter stick several times before it would read them.  After about 1 month, the player began to unsync video to audio every time it was paused.  After two months, it began to reopen whenever we would try to load a dvd.  The solution to this little problem turned out to be hitting the player as soon as the door shut, to jog the motor into moving so that it would spin up to load.  After three months the player began to lock up sometimes during a movie at random.  now, after four months, it will go between 8 and 9 minutes into ANY movie, then freeze up.  This is my definition of broken.  As soon as I finish this review, I will be cancelling my subscrition to Clearplay and seeking an alternate means of filtering filth from what we watch.

Worst service, software, and hardware I've ever experienced!

The Clearplay has clearly been the worst consumer experience I have ever experienced. I have experienced problems with every aspect of their product. These problems include website malfunction, unclear instructions, non-responsive telephone tech support, uneducated tech support both through e-mail and telephone, a corrupt filter stick (how does this happen out of the box?), software that doesn't work and is extremely difficult to use (both PC and Mac solutions are horrible), and DVD player that is both cheap and non-functioning (after two replacements a product should work)! What a fantastic idea but implementation has been nothing but a nightmare. I have spent over 20 hours of my precious time trying to get this product to work. It just hasn't. I would not purchase this product, nor recommend doing any business with their company. I can't even cancel my membership over the phone because their phone system doesn't work properly. I have had to call my credit card company to put a stop payment on their monthly service. If you enjoy headaches, this is the product for you.

This Clearplay DVD Player Sucks!

The concept behinf Clearplay is ingenious, unfortunately the player itself is a piece of crap. After two days the USB jump drive stopped working. When I called Clearply to complain they offered to sell me a new one at a discounted price instead of actually replacing it. Half the time the eject/open button doesn't work, it plays movies out of synch, and the sound quality is really fuzzy. I called and complained enough so they sent me a "refurbished" player with the exact same problems. The customer reps don't really help; all they do is encourage you to purchase their "new" player. I know two other people in my neighborhood who have identical problems with their players. Stay away... you've been warned.

Perfect solution to clean movie viewing!!

My parents introduced our family to clear play about 2 years ago.  Since then it has changed the way we watch movies.  It is a simple device, but it makes watching movies with your family so much more enoyable.  I hate foul language in movies and this takes the swearing right out of it.  It is really nice because you can set the level (low, medium, high) etc. for each of the different categories.  I love the clearplay even though there seem to be a few glitches wtih the player every now and then.  We have been using our current player for two years and it is still running great.  You download movie filters from the clearplay website and save them to a jump drive.  The jump drive plugs in to the dvd player and then edits the content of the dvd's.  We don't watch R-rated movies, but with the clearplay we are able to take most R-rated movies adn tune them down to a PG or PG-13.  It is really cool becuase it opens up the number of movies we can enjoy.

Great idea but horrrible hardware and tech support.

We love the idea of clearplay and had hoped it'd be the answer we were hoping for. Sadly it hasn't. We got a clearplay when they were new but it almost immediately had problems. We purchased new units 3 times over the years hoping the newer versions would be better but have seen no improvement. We tried customer support but they don't call back. My wife sat on hold for 2 1/2 hours waiting for a human since the voicemail was ignored and his answer was for us to "buy **another** unit since this new one's great"! They don't stand behind their equipment or help you when you have a problem. If you try to work out your issues on their website the links don't work. My password stopped working so I've asked them dozens of times to reset my password. The website says it's done but I have yet to have it work once. Not once in dozens of tries have I gotten an email with a new password. This is a hole you'll keep putting money into and your only return will be frustration. Run away!

Clearplay's Customer Service SUCKS!

The Clearplay DVD player itself is nice. However, I've been VERY disappointed with its customer service. First, a salesperson told my brother (who had bought the player for me) that he would be getting a deal where if he bought 2 players, he would also get 2 one year free memberships. Did not happen--instead, they only gave us 1 month free, even though he had bought 2 players.Next, my Clearplay tray would not open after a very short time of having it. I was told that I could send the player back and get a new one...but Clearplay makes the consumer, who only had the faulty player for a short while, pay for the shipping to send it back to Clearplay (even though the salesman told me that my DVD player was part of a batch of faulty players they had sold). There were other instances in which the person I talked to on the phone had told me one thing and then a different thing had happened, to the customer's loss and to Clearplay's benefit. **Very poor customer service.**

Great idea but the nonexistent service is horrible!

I love the idea and I like not having to listen to and watch all the trash but I am absolutely disgusted with the comlete lack of service or care for the customer once the item is purchased. I fear that clearplay is on it's way out. That is the only thing I can think is possible. They are going out of business. I am shocked that I can wait on hold literally over an hour almost everytime I call for help and then when they pick up they hang up on me, IF it picks up at all. This has happened for months. We paid for two players and only recieved one. They said we had to send the faulty player they were replacing back so we did. Still nothing came. We paid for two service contracts and we paid for two players and they have refused to answer emails or phone calls for us. How can any company get away with this kind of horrible customer service?! I am stunned and feel cheated.

Great DVD player for the family.

This is the greatest DVD player you can own.  It filters profanity and  nudity from movies so you can enjoy with your family.  There are levels you can set for blood, gore, profanity, nudity, etc.  This is a must have for families.
