I would recommend this clearplay dvd player to any family!

By

from Saint Anthony, ID

Comments about Clearplay DVD Player:

At first I was apprehensive at getting the clearplay because of the higher than average cost and the monthly membership fees. After having it for about a year, I would say that it is definately worth it if you watch a lot of movies with your family.

I really like how it lets me skip and fastforward the warnings at the beginning of all movies. This makes the time from putting the movie in to actually starting the movie faster than any other dvd player. The player is noisier than I would like, but I never hear it while the movie is playing.

If you don't upgrade your filters for a month, then you can't use any filter until you upgrade again which I think is lame. It will still play the dvd unfiltered though. Our universal remote doesn't work with this player either since it not very common.

We have never had a dvd not play. It isn't sensitive to scratches either like other players. Great parental controls.

Clearplay - CP-427 DVD Player is ok

By

from Provo, UT

Comments about Clearplay DVD Player:

ClearPlay DVD players are a great way to watch movies without language, sexual content, violence, and more.  It is helpful in so many ways, especially with children.  The player uses filters loaded onto a flash drive.  You can pick which aspects of movies you want to include or decrease.  Some filters are stronger than others and may take out more than you would like, but they can be adjusted.  It is a great way to keep family movie night still family friendly.

Sometimes the player has glitches while searching for a filter.  The machine must be turned off and back on (sometimes multiple times).  This can be annoying, but it isn't difficult.

To have the most up to date filters, one must have a membership with the Clearplay company. Sometimes this can be expensive.  It may be worth it to you if you want to have your movies censored.  The nice thing about ClearPlay is that you don't have to have special DVDs, only a small flashdrive and the DVD player.

Our family loves the idea of clearplay, but it needs improvement

By

from Las Vegas, NV

Comments about Clearplay DVD Player:

Our family loves that there is a service available to edit movies.  Basically, this DVD player comes with a flash drive that you can download filters to from the Clearplay website.  You have to pay monthly fee to access their filters, but it's just 7.99 a month or there are better deals if you buy a plan for a year or longer.  We just sign up for a month and then cancel until we need to update our filters again.  As I said, we love that we have the option of editing the content of the movies we watch, but we do have some complaints and concerns.  The biggest complaint is the quality of the DVD player.  We are on our third DVD player in about 4 years because our previous machines kept having issues.  The good news is that clearplay has been wonderful to help us out.  They have sent us brand new DVD players both times we had troubles with not cost to us.  Our other complaint is the way the editing is set up.  You can set your editing at different levels for various categories(violence, nudity, vulgarity, etc...).  The levels are least, medium, and most, but our problem is that there is no way of knowing what each of these levels actually means.  I wish the levels were more clear, i.e. what words are cut out at each level.  This is about the only option available for those who want to watch edited movies so I guess you just have to put up with the problems with Clearplay if it's important to have edited movies as an option.  I am just hoping Clearplay, in time, will improve.
