Classic Closeouts  —

Quick View

Classic Closeouts is a bargain priced clothing, accessory, and housewares site that is coming up in quality but still is on the low end. Prices are quite good and variety is good for women. Men and kids have a lot less to choose from. Lots of specials and free shipping promos help but watch out. Their stuff runs small!

I like bargains. Who doesn't? Classic Closeouts has plenty of those. This site sells women's clothing and accessories, men's and kid's stuff, baby stuff, some housewares, and some heath and beauty products. Most of the stuff is cheap and a lot of it runs small. But if you get lucky, you can find areal steal or two.

The Site and My Experience

The site is cluttered but you can browse by category and do searches. I usually just go to the women's section and look at everything they offer. Their ever changing stock keeps me coming back to see what new stuff they have added. They have Bargain Bin items at $2.99, $5.99, and $9.99 for everything and a clearance section with good prices but limited sizes. I am not at all fond of their descriptions. Many items have none at all and others have very vague ones. Often you don't know the inseam of pants or the sizing - which I can tell you runs SMALL! I always go up a size when I buy from the site because I know their size Mediums are really size Smalls. It's almost impossible for me to find jeans that fit. My regular size fits way too small in many styles and I just can't bother to guess what size I might wear. However, they have inexpensive tops, intimates, skirts, and swimwear that I am not afraid to buy.

Lately, I have noticed more name brands. Hot Kiss and Mavi are two that come to mind. For the most part, though, this is fairly cheap clothing with no really recognizable names. They have free shipping over $40.00 and many sales. In fact, there is always a promotion going on. Right now, it's 25% everything on the site. Often it's $10.00 off a $50.00 order or a percentage off. If you sign up for their emails, you will get all the promo codes and will be able to save more by snagging the things you want when they are on sale.

I have had both good and bad experiences on the site. I always got what I ordered and never had an issue with that, it's just that the sizing is tough to nail down. When the items fit, they're OK. Certainly not high quality but fine for casual wear. It's nailing down those darn sizes! They don't have a sizing chart and one would not work for everything anyways since different makers have different sizing. Now and then, the site will tell you an item runs small and to order up and, if they do, order two sizes up! I am a size 3 in jeans and the size 5's I bought won't go past my thighs. But, they do accept returns easily and graciously.

In all the site is decent for people who just want some inexpensive clothing and accessories and who are willing to take a chance on the sizes. Most will probably fit. What doesn't, you can send back for a refund or exchange. I just give my stuff away. I hate bothering with returns.

My Viewpoint

Classic Closeouts is a inexpensive site that is starting to come up in quality with each new batch of items they sell. Still, it's a gamble as to whether clothing will fit. Instead of selling tops by S,M,L, an XL, if they would simply put a size range like S (4-6), M (8-10), etc., it would make shopping there easier. Same with jeans, if they would put waist sizes up, that would help greatly.

In all, I call this the Russian Roulette site. You may get lucky and dodge the bullet and have everything fit fine or you may lose the game and be stuck with an order you can't use. If not for the easy return system, I would never shop here. But I do now and then and have been pleased with what fit and not surprised with what didn't. I give the site 3 stars. Try it. You have very little to lose. But do bear in mind that most items do run small.

In response to debranator's comment from Mar 18, 2009 at 1:57AM:

I have been hearing horror stories lately about the site. I haven't shopped there in quite a while. I have a feeling that the site is worse now than when i was actively shopping there. I actually did get decent customer service via email. But the sizes and quality are just too inconsistent and the prices aren't all that great now. Please write a review about your experiences. The more opinions, the better!

I find that the site is very shady.
its all over the net how they charge your card more than they are supposed to all the time.
and, how did you get good customer service?
I had a horrible time and it took 3 weeks to get a reply.
They also have a bad habit of raising the prices for a sale.
They move the prices up and down all the time.
up for the regular customers and down for the newbies.
I used to be a regular and just got annoyed with them.
