I use Claritin D in the spring and fall to help combat my allergy symptoms. I've been using it for years and haven't found anything that works as well. The only drawback is that you have to go to the pharmacy counter (at least in Michigan you do) and provide your driver's license to get it because it has Sudafed in it. There's also a limit of how much you can buy in a month. But that really doesn't have anything to do with the effectiveness of the product at all. I don't mind going to the pharmacy for something I know will make me feel better.
