Although some readers want to hear more detail, I found this a deeply moving book which months later, still impacts me. From the 2nd page where Clapton describes the living conditions of his early childhood, where he didn't have a permanent bed but camped from room to room, alerted me to his family life being different. He describes his awakening to his own identity within the family as being unique, sensed through confusion, mystery and a profound sense of loss and need of what he's not sure, perhaps it's his absent mother who he knew to be his sister.
