I like Clapton music.  When I got this book, I love Clapton music.  I ended up getting all of his solo work, and some of his earlier works.  When you listen to music, you wonder where the singers, which are also songwriters, get their inspirations, or is it a "true" story of what they were going through at the time, at least I wonder that sometimes.  Most people might not ever know, until they might read an article, an interview, or even a book.  After reading this book, I can understand his music much more.  Take "You Look Wonderful Tonight", before reading the book, this is a great ballad, nice sound.  After reading, I found out that this song was inspired by Eric after he watched Patty, his love that, if you ask me, stole from George Harrison of the Beatles, which lived down the road from Eric in England.  Patty asked Eric how she looked prior to going out for the night and he said, "You look wonderful tonight". I would have never known that if I didn't read the book.  He talks shortly about his lose of his son Conner, how it happened, how, before the accident, he had changed some of his ways to look better in Conner's eyes.  After the accident, he describes how the accident changed him.  I read a few critics reviews on how the book doesn't mention this or that, should have said this.  It didn't quit happen that way, blah, blah, blah.  I guess if Eric was to keep a daily journal from the time he could write, to the time he decided to put it in a book, no one would want to read it because it would be TOO BIG!!.  I got a lot of satisfaction out of the book.  Hard to put down.  A great chapter on his now successful marriage and three girls, even his album "Back Home" describes how things were after he arrived home after his world tour.

If you like music and Eric Clapton, you will enjoy this one.

Thank you for your comment. I could have went on and on, sorta like I am about to do here, about this book, and others I have read over the years, but I would have to end up re-reading the book to make sure my facts were right, so I decided to just keep it as short as I could. I am not a critic by any means, I like a good read and this was one. Check out any of Neil Peart's books, drummer for Rush, Ghost Rider, Roadshow..., Masked Rider.
