My hairdresser pointed me in the direction of Clairol Nice ‘n Easy Root Touch Up to save my hair and me money. What I was doing in between her professional colorings was completely coloring my hair with whatever was on sale that month. The running joke when asked what color I was using if someone liked my hair color was my answer "It's the flavor of the month."
A Closer View
You can and I have used regular hair color and just done my roots however I like Nice 'n Easy for a few reasons.
1. I only have to leave it on for 10 minutes (an additional 5 for persistent gray).
2. It is easy to apply. It comes with a plastic tray and a narrow brush that makes applying the color really easy. Note: This plastic tray was twice the size. Perhaps in the name of the environment Clairol decided this was needless plastic.
3. I like the fact the box tells me the shade in my hand matches a particular brand. For example I used light brown most recently and am told on the box that it matches Colorsilk 51 light brown; Excellence 6 light brown; Nutrisse 60 light natural brown; Nice ‘n Easy 116 Natural light neutral brown and Preference 6 light brown.
4. It's very easy to use. I just apply it to my most visible roots which are at my parts at the top of my head. Some may have visible gray at their temples or hairline. I usually have more color left over so I'll put some in those areas or lift up my hair to apply it underneath.
5. The two products that get mixed together make a paste so it doesn't drip.
You can call 1800 Clairol is you aren't sure what color to use. In the beginning I used the above matching process. I truly find that whatever color is close works and as the box says "won't leave a visible root line and won't interfere with your regular color."
It comes with gloves and as all hair colors we are told to do a patch test prior to using it.
The box which ranges in price from $5 to $10 gives me one application and is permanent color meaning it won't wash out. It doesn't. My roots grow out first. The box says that it will last for three weeks and I find this to be true.
This product is not to be used if you had reactions to other hair color products or if you have an irritated scalp.
