This gel is the bee's knees. I purchased on a curious whim, just to see if it was going to do my fluffed twist out and afro puff justice. A little bit goes a long way, and keeps things in place for a good part of the day. It smells absolutely divine, and is residue-free. While I'm sure nobody would be globbing it on, so to speak, anything above a dime-sized amount won't leave the hair crusty and flaky. What I love about this product is that it dries within about thirty minutes. While you're doing other things, your hair is pretty much set if you leave it alone. It kept my unruly and teased twist out curls in place until I was ready to go to bed. My hair was a little stiff, but not crunchy and hard to the touch. It felt sculpted but still soft. The affordability of this product is what's most attractive. You really get a quality product without having to spend a lot of money, or worry that your hair is going to dry out. It's a natural's best friend for quick, wash n go styles, or a daily tousle of twist out to keep things in place.

I really like Clairol Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching Gel. I have used it for several years. I use it for scrunching and also when blow drying with a diffuser. It does a good job defining my curls. It also increases the curliness of my hair. It works better in my hair which is more wavy than my daughter who has ringlet type curls. I love the smell of all Clairol Herbal Essences products. It leaves a slight crunch, but I haven't found a product that holds all day without having a little crunch. I recommend putting this gel in, scrunching your hair, and then using the plopping method. I leave my hair plopped while I get ready and use a blow dryer with a diffuser for a couple of minutes to finish drying my hair. I still use a little hair spray at the roots to build more volume. The best part about this hair gel is how inexpensive it is especially since I need to use a good sized amount.

I really like this gel because it gives me the chance to have curly hair. When I come out of the shower, my hair is somewhat wavy, but it goes to flat if I don't do anything with it. I usually towel dry my hair, then apply this gel, scrunching as I go along. When it is dry, I finish it with aerosol hairspray. I always get good compliments when I use this gel and I know I can count on it to keep my style lasting throughout the day. I have tried other gels before for scrunching, but they were all too heavy for my fine hair and just weighed down my hair. I tried this gel my herbal essence and have not gone back to trying any other gel. I especially like that it is available in a travel size so I can take it with me wherever I need to go, whether I am travelling or at the pool. The smell is also really good and when it dries, I still feel fresh out of the shower with my fresh smelling hair. I love this gel!

Clairol Herbal Essences Totally Twisted curl scrunching gel is a good product for taming and sculpting curls. I have mildly curly hair (a little more than wavy, but not seriously curly) and I've really had good results with this gel. It goes on easily, holds well (as long as I don't play with my hair), and has a pleasant smell. It does leave a bit of sticky residue on my hands, but that's to be expected from a gel product that's intended to hold hair in place, and you can just wash your hands and it comes right off. Contrary to others who have said they've had problems washing the gel out of their hair, I have not experienced that issue. In fact, if I run my fingers through my hair a couple of times while it's dry, it pretty much comes out. I've been pleased with the performance of this gel. It holds the curls well enough, but doesn't make my hair too hard. If you have really curly hair, I would imagine you would need something a little stronger, but for my hair, it definitely does the trick without overdoing it.

I've always enjoyed the Herbal Essence line and when they revamped it I was afraid I would lose some of my favorite items. I have been pleasantly pleased with everything I have tried from it. The Totally Twisted Gel is always in my closet. Works fantastic. Minimizes frizz and gives me great definition. I always stock up when it goes on a great sale. Price is reasonable for the amount you get, but I seem to use more than what i would think because I go through a tube in a little over a week! So going through that much I always have to have a backup - don't want to run out or only half enough to do my hair. I find that it applies really easily and evenly through my hair. It doesn't leave it sticky or crunchy looking. I prefer to blow dry with a diffuser, but even when I air dry it still leaves my hair looking great. It doesn't weigh it down or make it look heavy. Nice natural finish with great definition and NO frizz.

Okay, so this DOES help your hair curl, but like most gel's it's nasty and requires some to help your curls stay pretty. However the feel is not very nice, nor is the smell, nor is the feeling on your hands afterwords. I'm not very impressed with this item and it took me two washes to get it out after only using about a teaspoon in my middle-back length hair. I felt like it dried my hair out as well, it didn't hold the curls THAT well, but it did hold them, it was easily brushed out but left my hair feeling crunchy. The gel takes a while to dry and doesn't look that nice, it's not very shiny, or it's overly shiny in spots, it's hard to make a nice all over even coating with it because it seems a bit different than other gels. I scrunched my hair with it but it made my hands sticky and I had to wash them for a while and lots of soap to get it off. So all in all, not very impressed with it as I am other Herbal Essence items, it is quite eww.

All I can say is WOW. I recently started using the Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching gel (level 2 - extra). And this is ALOT better than the gel I used to use. When I put this gel on my fingers, it is not very sticky or slimy to my fingers but really does work on your hair. I was very surprised with how well my hair came out with this gel. It comes in a little cute bottle too! It works wonders when you use it with the Herbal Essences Totally Twisted  Curl Boosting Mousse. It is great when it comes to days that you want to be lazy but still look good going out. All you have to do is take a quick shower or even rinse your hair quickly in the shower. Then you apply the mousse first to your hands and grab all the hair you can and squeeze it into curls. You do the same thing with the gel and it definitely works. It works best when you blow dry it curly, but letting it dry naturally works just as well too.

I used to use the Clairol Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching gel ALL throughout high school because it was the best thing available to me at the time. I think the Clairol Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching Gel works really rather well for an over-the-counter hair product. I switched a few years ago to try several different gels/hair products because this one I found was getting to be a bit too sticky. I've been growing out my hair again and it seems like maybe  my hair would be able to appreciate the Clairol Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl SCrunching Gel again, miraculously, now that it's longer :P And when I say longer, I mean shoulder length (just barely). Well...I think I'm going to continue to stick with my salon-brand products. The gel just continues to be too sticky and then it makes it too flat in certain parts while I'm trying to defrizz other parts of my hair...I would recomment this product if you're on a TIGHT budget right now.

Herbal Essences Totally Twisted curl scrunching gel is my current favorite gel.  I have incredibly challenging hair that is thick, curly, dry and tends to frizz.  Therefore I need a lot of styling product to keep my curls tamed.  My challenge has always been finding a styling products that holds well but does not make my hair stiff or give it the wet slick look.  The Herbal Essences Totally Twisted curl gel does the best job that I have found so far.  It gives just enough hold without leaving my hair stiff and crispy feeling.  I also like to mix the gel product with the Herbal Essences curl mousse which seems to provide the best solution for my challenging hair.  The gel smells good and is not overpowering.  I also like that this product is easy to find at many different stores and is reasonably priced.  I can usually find a coupon to combine with a sale to make the gel even cheaper.  I only wish this gel came in a larger size.

Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Curl Scrunching Gel is an okay product. It is level 2 out of 3 hold levels. It is cheap and easy to find in common stores. It smells good. But for me, that is basically the end of it. I didn't feel like it had a great hold. My hair is wavy and I try to overexaggerate the wave because otherwise, it looks flat and icky. Hold is important for me. And this, well, just falls flat. LA Looks Sport Gel has a much tighter hold. That being said, this gel does not get crunchy, which is a positive. I really wanted it to work for me because it is so easy to find in stores. It is recommended by the Curly Girl method because it contains a water-soluble silicone (meaning you don't need a harsh sulfate to wash it out). I would recommend it to someone who needs a light to medium hold, but considering how my hair used to barely hold a curl unless it was pinned down, I just need more.
