Citi - Shell Gas MasterCard —

My wife tried to use our Citi Shell MasterCard this AM. I've been a customer since the Summer of 2007. I've really enjoyed the 5% rebate, until this AM that is.

Apparently, paying your balance in full each month isn't good enough and we found out at the gas pump that they cancelled the card yesterday. No letter, no phone call.

We have excellent credit, pay our balances in full each month and WHAM they treat us like this.

I can't imagine how they would treat you if you fell behind.

I guess that's why Citi is struggling and Chase is doing well. So we'll change our buying habits and use BP instead of Shell.

We got the replacement cards on Saturday. Of course, everything is full now, so we are still running the BP gas we have.

Like I said, we pay in full each month, so we use this card just to get the $20-$25 in cash back rebates on the gas we buy.

I'm glad fo you, but be careful with them. If they called me or sent a letter re-opening my account I'd say yes aswell. I enjoyed the rebates on gas. Good luck!

They called me back last week, the day after I got the letter, on or about the 23rd if I recall correctly and said they reviewed my account and wanted to re-open my account, using the same terms.

I said sure, but they would have to send me new cards as we shredded the old ones.

So we'll see how Citi does from here on out.

Meanwhile, we've been using our Chase BP card and our Chase Freedom card and Citi/Shell has missed out on about $200 in fuel purchases over the past two plus weeks.

Hey yep, I'm the same as you! I went to use my card & it was declined! I thought what is wrong.Customer service lady said you did not receive a letter from Citi? I was like no- your card has been cancelled as of Oct. 14th. I found out it was cancelled on Oct 22nd only because I tried to use it. No phone call or e-mail, but a letter which I finally received the next day.I was shocked because like you I pay my balance in full every month, never late, etc. My letter they sent me said they went thru my credit score and Equifax. The reason stated insufficient length of credit history. Which is a lie because I was given the card 3 years ago, meaning I have more credit history now. I was angry and talked to a supervisor, she said my credit score no longer meets the parameters. I asked can I find out the parameters or can you tell me & of course she said no. She doesn't even know them. I wonder how in the heck can they do that! I think I make them no money by having no late fees or interest charges, so therefore I am no good! If I had money I would dig deeper and can almost beg I meet the parameters fine. The people who make Citi money have their accounts open. I guess paying our bills on time or even in full is no longer enough. I now I bet this looks horrible on my credit report & my score is lower now! We shouldn't have to take this.
