Not an honest company

2

I had a really horrible experience with this company. Part of it was due to my naive nature but a lot of it was due to their dishonesty. When I was in college, I was obviously hurting for cash. This company had a table set up on my college campus outside a local restaurant. When my friends and I walked past, they said "fill out this form requesting more information on our company and get a free lunch." Well, as broke college kids, of course we wanted a free meal. They told us the form was only to request more information on their company and agree to getting things in the mail. None of that seemed harmful. So we filled out the forms and got a free meal. About two weeks later, I got a letter in the mail from this company with a credit card in it. It told me, "Congratulations, you have been approved for a credit card!" Apparently they used the form we filled out as a credit card application. I called and cancelled it immediately. However, it has left me with a bad opinion of this company since then. I would not recommend using them based on my experience. I value honesty in companies and they did not show it. Customer Service They cancelled my card quickly but were dishonest from the start. Available Rates Interest is high.

I have had my Citi card for 20+ years it was my first card.

First off this is a credit card. There usually isn't too much bad to say IF you pay your balance in full every month. Otherwise there are going to be a lot of bad things you can comment on. I have had my citi card which is now a platinum card for 20+ years. It was my first credit card I got out of high school. There aren't many "perks" with this card but I keep it since I have had it for so long and that affects your credit. Customer Service I haven't really had to contact customer service in years. When I have I had good dealings with them. I did have one instance where I was signed up for online billing and I wasn't aware I had done that and my email changed so my whole $1 balance got hit with a late fee when I didn't realize I even had a balance. The fee was reversed since I had been such a good customer. Available Rates I have much better rates with my credit card from my credit union. But as far as rates go across the board most standard bank credit cards have terrible rates if you hold any kind of balance from month to month.

Only use it in emergencies

The Citi card doesn't have the best benefits and the rates aren't the lowest. In fact, it's quite expensive and more than I am willing to pay. I only keep this card for emergency purposes. For instance, there might be some places online that I shop at and they don't accept my Chase Freedom card so I have to use this one. In addition, there are some places when I traveling that don't accept that either. Their customer service isn't the best. Sometimes they are frustrating and it feels like they don't know what they're doing. There have also been some times where I have been put on hold for ridiculous periods of time. They don't offer cash back or have a lot of rewards. I don't even know if they offer any because they've never told me anything about it. I am scared of their late fee charges so if I have a balance on there, I pay it off in full to avoid paying more than I should. Unless it's necessary, I would not sign up for this card!

Stay away from this awful company with terrible customer service

Never again will I do business with Citi bank, whether a credit card, bank account, loan or any other situation. I had 2 credit cards with them for years (only two because the 'accidentally' processed my application twice) and after years of on time payments and being an ideal customer, they started occasionally forget to send out a bill. And, like many people, when I do not receive a bill, it makes it pretty hard to pay a bill. I would find out the next month when I see late fee's, or on the website if I had the time to bank online and discover my account was past due. I called and asked kindly to have the late fee removed and interest rate restored, and made sure it would not affect my credit report. Sometimes they were graceful in their reversal of the damage, sometimes they were difficult, telling me to get a lower interest rate I had to switch to a new card and the like. I also requested that they not 'forget' to send the bills in the future. But, alas, it happened again and again. Over a 2 year span there were at least 6 bills that never made it to my door, after the third I was making a point of checking online so that I would not miss another payment. Eventually I got so frustrated that I called again, and spoke with an incredibly inconsiderate man who took my complaints as personal allegations. After requesting to speak with his boss and suggesting I might be thinking of closing the accounts he screamed into the phone "you want them closed, fine, THEY'RE CLOSED!" and hung up on me. I called back and sure enough he had not been bluffing, indeed my accounts were closed. I paid off the balance as quickly as I could and walked away from Citi Bank in every way possible. Never do business with these people, they have shoddy practices and will destroy your credit score without blinking, rack up the late fee's, and spike your interest rate. They are not good people nor are they even nice. Stay Away! Customer Service mean people who will yell at you Available Rates dont send bills and raise your rate as soon as you have 1 late payment

Poor Customer Service

1

Citibank provides very poor customer service relative to other bank credit card companies. Their rates are not competitive and I don't see any reason why anyone would want to do business with them. Citibank was a very good bank and provided good customer service many years ago but has not focused on the customer experience or service. I would recommend Wells Fargo as a much better choice for service.

I use my Citi Platinum Visa to get Thank You Rewards points.

I have had my **Citi Platinum Visa Card** for YEARS. So long, I can't even remember when I got it. I am giving this card a "Good" rating simply because there isn't anything bad I have to say about them, but they don't necessarily blow me away with awesomeness. One thing I love about this card is that they are partnered with Thank You Rewards, where I get points for each dollar spent and I redeem my points for gift cards or merchandise offered from Thank You Rewards. Customer Service When I'm on vacation or using my card abnormally, the people at Citi call me to make sure that it's me using my card and it hasn't been lost or stolen. I like knowing that they are looking out for me even though it is probably primarily them looking out for themselves since they would have to foot the bill had my card indeed been stolen. If I had to gripe about something in customer service it's that they are so scripted and always sound like they're reading something to me. Available Rates Several years ago, ALL credit card companies had to raise their rates because the credit market as a whole went up. I can't complain that my rate went up because it would have happened regardless of the card I was using at the time.

Great Product - gets a person into financial trouble

This is a great product but you have to watch out for it.  My wife and I are on a budget and everytime she take the credit card to the store, she always goes over.  It's been frustrating going on the hole for a lot of materials we don't need.  Wants not needs.

Citibank Platinum has been our longest standing account.

Several years ago my husband and I were offered this card through a mail offer.  Since then we have charged up and paid this card off a few times.  It has been a good source for emergency financial support and sometimes a splurge.  I have always been happy with the customer service offered.  However, twice now even though we've never been late or over our limit, Citibank is upping our 8.9% fixed rate to 29.99% unless we opt out and close our account.  A few years ago when this happened the first time we opted out and then called right before the card expired (the account closing date) to inquire about a better rate.  That's when we were given the 8.99%.  And now, they've done it again.  Specifically because of the "cost of doing business".  I have difficulty believing that all of Citibank's customers will get the same 30% interest rate.  Unfortunately, we will be closing this account for good now because of their change in Terms.  But, the card has been benificial, especially with the Thank You Network points awarded monthly.  We have cashed in thousands of points over the years and have provided several Christmas presents as a result of saving them up.

nice card with nice customer services

i have been using citi bank credit card for almost 20 years.  i have been a solid customer and so far in those entire 20 years i never did encounter any problems related to the use of my card.  i also have been in good credit standing and i rarely use it for puchasing unless its necessary.  in those times when identity theft was at its peek, citi bank has been very prudent in alerting all its clients especially those with online registration as they are more susceptible to identity theft.  when it comes to renewing my card, they too were very prudent that i need not call to request for my card renewal since it will be on my mail ahead of time.  as far as customer service is concerned, their customer service representatives over the phone are very pleasant to deal with and very respectful. i think i will be a loyal cutomer of this card because of their very nice and accommodating services. they surely know what thier clients needs are on top of the list.  and never had i have a single problem with this card.  the interest rates and charges are pretty low or just average, unlike the american express which charge you for very high annual fees.  for customers like me who most of the time pay in cash, i don't need those high end cards like american  express that charge you too much for an annual fee.  i have my citibank platinum but they don't charge me that much when i still can get the same  amount of credit which american express offers.

i dont like citibank because they dont care about their customer

i signed up for a citibank visa credit card years ago. I started having trouble keeping up with payments because of them raising the interest. I started out with 8.99% and they raised it to 18.99% because they were raising everyones. Well i was already having a hard time with the payments because it seemed that i wasn't getting the balance to go down. So when they raised the interest rate on the card, i couldn't pay because the minimum was more than i could afford and no matter what the balance wouldn't go down unless i paid way more then the minimum every month. I called them because i was concerned that i wasn't going to be able to pay them and was afraid that i would be in a deep debt that i couldn't get out of and i asked them if they could lower the rate so that i could just pay it down and that i wouldn't use it while doing so. They wouldn't help me at all and were rude about it. i wasn't saying that i wasn't going to pay just that i wanted them to help me just a little so i could just pay my balance down. Dont trust any credit card companies...its not worth it and they dont want to help you they just want money from you and want to make profits.
