Citi - Dividend Platinum Select Card Review Summary

We all use credit cards, so why not get something extra for our efforts? This is precisely the idea behind Citibank Dividend MasterCard, a credit card that pays members cash back for ordinary purchases. Reviewers point out that the cash back is good enough that consumers can actually get paid to use their Citibank Dividend MasterCard provided the balance is paid in full every month. “They Pay Me to Use Their Card” says one reviewer, but another cautions that the Citibank Dividend MasterCard “Use to be Good, but Not Any More” due to Citibank reducing its cash back percentage. It adds up to a mixed overall review for this Credit Card, making Citibank Dividend MasterCard a credit card that may not be suitable for every customer’s needs.

I've been a citi card holder since 1991.  Fresh out of college, I needed a solid credit card that wouldn't slam me with a high APR.  After getting my first real job, I stop carrying a balance.  Smart right?  A few years ago, Citi dreams up a fabulous idea.  They decide to reward customers with MONEY... review »

I am still looking for a good credit card reward program because this one used to offer great dividends on grocery gas, and drug store purchases.  These are the types of stores where most people spend all their money.  They used to offer a 5% rebate for this type of purchase, now this is down to 2%.  ... review »

This card used to have a 5% reward which was fairly decent and worth the trouble as long as it was paid off every month. However, rewards were reduced to 1% (2% at some vendors). It's not worth the hassle... cut it up. Pay cash. It's just easier and you'll sleep better.

Recently I received notice from Citi Card that my interest rate was jumping to 19.9%.  Even though a person has an excellent payment history on all cards and is never late(and if so only a day because of the time frame in paying on line), they are punished because the companies know that this person will do everything in his or her power to pay their bills on time.  They will work with you only if you are delinquent and  just don't pay at all.  If these companies cared about the consumer they would check histories and see if the person is sincere or just a scammer.  They look at your credit...

As of July 2009, this card offers 2% cash back on supermarket (grocery stores), drugstore, gas, and utilities, 1% cash back on all other purchases with a $300 cap per calendar year.  I would say this is slightly above average (average being just 1% cash back), but you do get 5% cash back in the 2% categories for 6 months.  The APR is not important to me since I never carry a balance, so I didn't even bother checking it.  There is no annual fee.

Before finding this card, I applied for the Capital One No Hassle Cash Reward card that offers the same cash back (except you can choose a different...

I enjoy getting extra for buying groceries, gas , auto products and repairs and prescriptions. Every little bit helps today. I don't like the fact that the lowered my rewards from 5% to 2%, because it takes longer for me to be able to earn rewards now. However they are still paying them, so that I am grateful for that. I am in the drivers edge program, so all of the rewards that I earn have to be used toward auto repairs. The upside to that is I don't have to wait until I have 50.00 in reward savings, I can submit any repair bills, amounting to 25.00 and up and it will be deducted off of my credit... review »

I have been using the Citi Dividend Platinum Select card for several years now.  I was so pleased with the easy way to accumalate a refund check that I recommended my husband and daughter also apply for one; now all three of us receive dividend checks at least yearly.  A few years ago the percentages of what is earned per dollar charged were lowered making it a little harder to accumalte the minimum $50 to request a check, but it is still very doable in a reasonable amount of time if the card is used for most all our purchases.  They reward 1% on all purchases other than drug store and grocery... review »

Many people advise against credit card use, however if you will pay your card off each month you can pick up additional rewards just for using your card to buy the things you need on a daily basis.  We have saved rewards for a laptop for a graduating SR x 2. We did not earn enough rewards for both, however we were able to make a big dent in the cost.  Customer service is very user friendly and has been very cooperative when needed.

Citibank Divident card pays you 1 percent back on all your purchases and now pays 2 percent on all your gas, grocery and drug store purchases. They used to pay 5 percent back on all your gas, grocery and drug store purchases but recently changed it to 2 percent. Eithor way if you purchase everything on your charge card and pay it off every month you will actually get paid to use their card.

I started using a Citi Credit Card in college in order to build up good credit. They had everything I was looking for including online services such as online payment option, online statements, & online customer service. They also are in connection with the Thank You rewards program which I loved, I easily build up Thank You points that I can redeem for gift cards.
