Citi - Dividend Platinum Select Card Review

Recently I received notice from Citi Card that my interest rate was jumping to 19.9%.  Even though a person has an excellent payment history on all cards and is never late(and if so only a day because of the time frame in paying on line), they are punished because the companies know that this person will do everything in his or her power to pay their bills on time.  They will work with you only if you are delinquent and  just don't pay at all.  If these companies cared about the consumer they would check histories and see if the person is sincere or just a scammer.  They look at your credit report and decide by ratio of debt to credit if you are a risk and that is not fair.  I have been in debt all my life and more so since the loss of my husband, which by the way cut my income by 3/4ths.  Now I am suddenly a poor risk even though I have an excellent credit report for paying bills.  I do not believe these companies need people to answer the phones because they are really run by computers and the associates have to ask the computer if I am worth while.

If these companies would allow people to succeed they would not have to write off so many debts and then raise our interest to make up the difference. Only one card jumped in and on their own offered help by lowering the interest rate to 2% and in turn I agreed not to use  the account.  This card which was MBNA will get everything I owe them plus the interest.  The  amount I owe Citi Card compared to MBNA is only a drop in the bucket.  When I notified Citi Bank that I was dissatisfied with their new terms they could care less and since I opted out of the new terms would not even talk to me.  What a wonderful company.!!!  When talking to MBNA they offered to help me, I was not even calling to get help, only to get a set payment so it would not vary so much.  Some companies deserve our business and the others deserve our scorn, and that is what I have for Citi Bank after many years of my good credit history with them.
