The news in the winter of February 2007 was dismal: the savings rate in America is now at an all time and depressing low of negative one percent! My wife and I, in an effort to buck the trend, cling to the axiom "Pay Yourself First." For us that means we sock away a percentage of our monthly net in various investment vehicles one of which is a Money Market Account (MMSA). Until recently the account had been languishing at a Credit Union with a dismal rate of return, so we decided to shop around for a higher return on our Money Market investment.

Our first Visa card came from Citibank, way back when we were first married and in the succeeding 25 years, we have been through all variants from gold to platinum to diamond preferred....the one constant is top notch customer service. And they really do show concern about my credit history and my personal identity-long before it became a buzzword of modern culture. A large, unusual expediture for our family was followed almost immediately by a phone call checking to insure that it was, in fact, our charge. Citi Thankyou points are the icing on the cake. There is a lot of things that people do that thank you points will reward you for. Checking accounts, savings, online bill pay and the list goes on and on. Just go to their site and read about the thankyou rewards there and you will see that you can passivley get a lot of points. If you use the these services then you will get points and they can get prizes or gift cards. If you use their debit card then you get more points.

Citi also has ATM's in almost all 7-11's and you will will get one and then there are a lot of promotions so you can...

Every since i started my first job I needed a saving account so my dad took me there and i opened one savings account is not all that great in interest rates.... So I've gotten older and needed direct deposit so i opened one on my own great start to free checking account.. so earning just the fee i didnt have to pay was a plus. after a couple of years I've learned about making money with money u dont use in the bank so I was told about e-savings earning interest on that is another plus now that i'm married i opened a joint account easy to say I citibank was the first bank i ever had my money in... review »

I have been associated with Citibank through the Citi umbrella via my mortgage and a Mastercard and was very satsified with their service. I stumbled upon Citibank by way of work and was so impressed by the service I received from the personal banker, that I extended my Citi family and opened a checking account and soon a savings account that is giving a very competitve interest rate.
