Cisco - 7940 IP Telephone Review Summary

Business telephones such as the Cisco 7940 IP Telephone offer more than just the ability to talk. These internet protocol phones also offer an interface with the world wide web and reviewers like this extra feature as well as the sound quality, voice mail, and other options. The Cisco 7940 IP Telephone receives good, but somewhat mixed reactions overall, and the range of comments pretty much says it all: “I Use This Phone System at Work and it Seems Pretty Dependable”, “Awesome Phone” and “The Display is Flawed, but the Phone is a Good Start”. Besides issues with the liquid crystal display, some reviewers also complain about the sound of the phone when using the paging feature and they don’t like that the volume control has to be turned almost all the way up to hear the caller on the other end. Add everything together, and the Cisco 7940 IP Telephone ranks as an average to slightly above average Telephone with a good deal to offer but less than perfection.

I USE THIS PHONE SYSTEM AT WORK AND IT SEEMS PRETTY DEPENDABLE

THE CISCO 7940 IP PHONE IS GOOD BUT WE HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SYSTEM AT THE OFFICE ABOUT ONCE EVERY 2-3 MONTHS BUT I THINK THAT IS MORE OUR CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEIR INTERNET THEY USE THAN ANYTHING! THE DISPLAY COULD BE DARKER BUT IT IS LARGE ENOUGH AT LEAST UNLIKE MOST THINGS THESE DAYS. VOLUME ISSUE IS THAT IT SEEMS EITHER TOO LOUD OR NOT LOUD ENOUGH AND NOTHING AT THE RIGHT LEVEL. IT IS BETTER THAN THE SYSTEM WE HAD BEFORE THOUGH THAT IS FOR SURE.

Have the Cisco IP Phone at work and love it. The caller ID function is incredible as are the checking missed calls feature and voice mail. Only downfalls are when you are making a page it is hollow sounding and the line is fuzzy at times. Love the fact there are so many ringtones to chose from.
