Circuit City Reviews

Circuit City has fallen upon troubled times, as many have in today's economy.  But, don't let that stop you from at least giving them a try.

My likes: Firedog...much better than Best Buy's "Geek Squad".  They have gone out of their way to answer questions about products I didn't even purchase from them.  Prime example: I bought a Microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse some years ago from a CompUSA store that was closing down.  The mouse worked, but not the keyboard.  CompUSA wouldn't even look at it.  "All sales final." is all they would say.  I never had a wireless keyboard before and didn't...

Several years ago, I had components for a home A/V system installed by Circuit City.  Circuit City subsequently spun off its service division into a separate entity called Firedog.  So, because I'd felt satisfied by Circuit City's service in the past, I chose Firedog to handle two minor adjustments to the set-up.  After reviewing Firedog's offerings on line, on 6/6/08 I called Firedog to purchase the simplest option, called CONNECT3.  But when confronted with my request, the salesman said that I should purchase the more expensive BASIC service instead.  His stated reasons constituted gobbledygook...

After several days of reading reviews and comparisons, I decided the Sony 40" tv from Circuit City was a good deal, since they had the 18 month no interest on charges. I applied and received a 1,000 credit limit. The one I chose was originally 1899, but was on sale for 1299, and had another 100 dollar discount, making the total 1199. Since I had not received my new credit card, I had no idea what my account number was, so I couldn't complete the transaction online. I called the 800 number and continued the transaction. I was looking to replace my husband's Christmas present - a portable DVD player which I mistakenly purchased from Overstock (saving that review for later!). After a long morning of reading product reviews and online comparison shopping, I went to Circuit City's website and decided on a Phillip's DVD player. I made the decision to pick it up myself - the store is only a few miles away and the website said IT WAS AVAILABLE FOR PICKUP! This way I won't worry about delivery time, damage during shipping, etc. Get to the store, hand clerk the email confirmation...clerk checks on computer...computer...

I have to say when I walked into our local Circuit City I didn't find what I went in for, BUT let me just say that I did get the unexpected. I got great customer service!

The store did have an item on sale that I planned to purchase in the future so I bought it. When I asked about the item that I had went to purchase the guy said he didn't think it had come in but he would go in the back to check the unpacked boxes. He did and it wasn't there.

It didn't stop there though. He was asked by another guy what I needed and he got online to find out why they didn't have it and...
