As someone who is still recovering from a chemical burn suffered from this product (2 days ago), I will never buy it again, even if it's on sale (like it was when I bought it).

The 6 hour neutralization time is a big obstacle to me, especially as I often need to have a little sleep in the middle of the day and take my contacts out for a couple of hours. I've been trying to make do and keep the neutralized solution around in the mornings instead of discarding it and using *it* to do any rinsing or short-term storage.

But of course, being disabled and on medication that makes me groggy and not as sharp as usual, the inevitable happened and I forgot to use the leftover solution and used fresh solution instead.

I went through the treatment recommended by poison control (15 minutes of eye rinsing) but my eye is still hurting and recovering even 2 days after the fact. :(

As such, I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone who :

- is a long-time contact lens wearer (from the days when disinfectant bottles were red)

- is disabled and/or on medications that interfere with concentration

- is suffering from menthal health conditions

- has a need to take naps during the day

Really, if there's any chance you might not be completely focused on the task at hand and mistakenly pick up this product and use it to rinse your contact lens, don't take the risk!!!

It's likely that you will have to pick up another saline solution anyways to keep handy on your counter for rinsing purposes. So why on earth would you want to have two? And why take the risk you would mix them up?

I am going right back to the product I have used and trusted for years that cleans my contacts without any need for harsh chemicals. And I really feel that this product should have to be in a red bottle so that people don't grab it off the shelves quickly, assuming it's a regular saline cleaning product instead of a heavy disinfectant-type cleanser.

I'm in the process of blogging about my experience and then I think I'll be putting the other unused bottle in the package up for sale on the internet!

@dragons: I'm sorry that you misunderstood my message; I did not "blame" the product; I gave a very clear review of why I don't recommend it - isn't that the point of this website???

Obviously you are not in the groups of people that I listed in my post that I don't recommend this product for - good for you. And you've been exposed to the "MANY" alerts, great.

I had seen no alerts, just a product mostly clad in *blue*, a colour I identify as a safe cleaning product for contacts from "back in the day" when there were separate bottles for rinsing and for disinfecting.

I still maintain my viewpoint that this product is not worth the risk for anyone in the situations I described.

Not very fair to blame the product for your misuse and inability to follow directions.
The company has done MANY extra safety alerts to avoid such occurences. Product performs wonderfully!!!!
