The Case

When you have a lot of young’uns in the family, you become very familiar with all of the pizza joints in town, especially if they’ve got games to play after you’re done with dinner.  CiCi’s is one of the many choices for a kid-friendly restaurant, but thanks to their pizza buffet, we usually head there instead of Gatti’s or Chuck E. Cheese.

The Good

It may not be the crème de la crème of places, but CiCi’s has it where it counts – namely, in the kid department.  With decent buffet prices, a wide selection of pies for the whole family – including parent preferences like supreme, veggie, and spinach – dessert pizzas up the wazoo, and a big game room for entertainment after the meal, CiCi’s has it goin’ on for the entire family.

The Bad

Even though I’m a CiCi’s fan, I still have a few complaints.  First off, the pizza is good, but not great.  Don’t expect a gourmet meal, because you won’t get it (although the dessert pizzas are always amazingly satisfying).  Second, if you’re looking for a place to celebrate a birthday, CiCi’s isn’t the way to go.  Chuck E. Cheese is much more extensive in the games department, and better suited to an afternoon of fun.  CiCi’s is good for about an hour.

And last, but not least, a small pet peeve of mine: it’s a family-oriented restaurant chain, but of the four CiCi’s locations that I’ve been to, I have yet to find a changing table in the bathroom.  This isn’t a problem if your entire family is out of diapers, but it becomes a real pain when Mom has to deal with the baby sans changing station.  Talk about unappetizing…

The Verdict

Three stars!  If you’re looking for a quick place with cheap food, a selection for your “picky eater” kids, and some games to play afterwards, CiCi’s is your stop!
