To the Point

For the second time we rented a PT Cruiser while in Las Angeles. This time it was a 2007 with 27,000 miles on it. There were very few changes in 2007. The only ones were a switch that lifts the gate which is standard on the base model which is what we had. There is also now a keyless remote...

On a recent business trip, I rented a 2007 PT Cruiser for two days and put about 125 miles on the car. I would have preferred something smaller and more ordinary for this rental, but the PT Cruiser was what was available. It's not a bad car but it has a few compromises you should consider before buying....

I fell in love with the style of the PT Cruiser. The price was right and both the wife and teenage son fit inside perfectly.
We have loved this car since driving it off the lot. It has been on roadtrips, grocery runs, mall shopping and late night drive thru cravings. Everything fits inside great and it handles wonderfully. The ride is smooth and comfortable. Never having owned anything other than a Toyota, this is a nice introduction to Chrysler.
The PT Cruiser was our way of getting an SUV feel without breaking the bank. You sit higher than a normal car so you can see more without towering over...

The PT Cruiser is a nice looking car.  It's compact and the total amount you can drive one off the lot for is very reasonable.  With a 25% down-payment and good credit, you can drive one off with substantially low monthly payments, depending on the duration of the loan.  It seems well-worth the price, but the downside is that you never get to know a car with a mere test drive.  You only become familiar with a car once you purchase it and actually begin driving freeway miles and city traffic.  The moral of my tale is, "don't go El Cheapo" and buy below your means because you definitely get... read full review »

I love my PT Cruiser! Smooth ride all the way around! It sits higher up, like a smaller SUV might, but it drives like a car. It's small enough to fit in a number of parking spots, but spacious inside. (More room interiorly than in the HHR's!) If you're looking for a whole lot of get-up-and-go, this isn't the car for you. If you're looking for everything else, it's here!

This has been a pretty good car so far, but there is really nothing spectacular about it. I do feel a bit cramped & still can't get use to the window controls not being on the door. And the gas milage...not nearly as good as I thought it was going to be. I only average about 17 mpg!
