Chrysler PT Cruiser - 2006 Review Summary

The 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser is big and will get you noticed on the road. The PT Cruiser has also been noted to have the need to make wide turns, which can make driving this baby a bit uncomfortable for some. Owners have mostly good things to say about the ’06 Chrysler PT Cruiser and love the luxurious look and feel of the PT. What else is on the downside? The Chrysler PT Cruiser 2006 is not a fast car, is not very fuel efficient and some do not even think the seats are comfortable. You may want to check out some reviews on the 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser before making a decision.

To the Point

We rented a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser for three weeks while in California in January. It’s a very cute car – especially the convertible.

A Closer Look

The car we rented was the automaticTouring 4 door wagon with a 2.4L, 4 cylinder engine. It seats 5.

There are several models...

I bought a red 2006 PT Cruiser back in the Spring of 2007. This is my first and something I always wanted since they first came out. On the plus side I find that it runs well, has good pickup, bigger inside than expected and fun to drive. On the negative side I expected much better gas mileage for a 4 cylinder. I only average about 21 to 22 mpg around town and about 26 on the highway. Seems like it should do a lot better. The price for this car seems to run from about 18000 to the mid 20's from what I saw. I think the sporty look of a classic car brings the price up a bit. This is not my favorite... review »

I am a proud owner of a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible, turbo charged, and loving the ride.   The pick-up on this car is truly amazing with the 230 h.p.    There is lots of leg-room to spare for those tall people out there too.   This car is perfect for the town and country person, as the convertible model really doesn't have a lot of cargo space....maybe for a bit of luggage and some golf clubs, and by flipping down the seats in the back, you gain more room.   I just would not recommend this vehicle as a family car.  Driving with the top down is PURE JOY!   I have had no problems... review »

My pickup truck had reached his 16th birthday and limped over the quarter million mile mark, so sadly it was time to move on.  At this stage in my life I still needed to haul cargo, but now instead of a mountain bike it was a 2 year old and groceries.

My first impression of my 2006 PT Cruiser was how fast I sped out of the dealership on the test drive.  It's not a demon but the response was fun and the handling was comfortable.  The chrome styling of the dash has a retro feel, my favorite part is the clock with an hour and minute hand.

Though the base model has power door locks, it...

I love my PT Cruiser. When i first got my PT cruiser I thought it was a little small but i quickly got use to its size and have been very happy with this car. One of my favorite features are the air vents. they are circular and can be moved in every direction to reach any and every spot in the car. I also love the pop-out trunk. you open up the back of the car and theres tons of room to stack stuff. I get great gas mileage too.

The PT Cruiser is a great all-around car. I am on my second one, and I haven't had any problems mechanically. Aesthetically, it's just the cutest car on the road...a little bit vintage, a little bit futuristic! The only problem I have with the car is the seats in the new models aren't as comfortable as the seats in the old models. The upholstery is less soft, but probably more durable.

Over-all I like the PT and it has been a great little car. It has some zip and you can get up and go when you need to. My car cam with a MP3 jack for my Ipod. The gas milliage is good and it has had no problems to date. The window opener is in the middle of the dash and not on the door where one would look for it.

A great car for the every day person. Pretty good gas mileage. Love the fact that the back seats can be taken out for more room to haul things.

I did not have one, I had two PT cruiser 2006.

I have driven 3 years in a metallic grey PT cruiser Van and I loved driving it. Good oversight, engine performed well. The back row chairs are easily taken out to create a great space to move larger pieces.

I still have my red PT cruiser GT convertible and when the wheather allows it we go out and drive it with the top down. It seats 4 comfortably and in the back seats you are not having that much of wind as I have experienced in other convertibles like the Audi A4.

I like to drive with shift stick and I have to say that  with both cars the gears...

Love this car, mines an 08', convertible, back seat is a little small, but I did not buy it for the back seat, I've already had the top down on a 50' day and with the windows up and heater on it's great. The split rear seat opens in the middle and if you need to carry things like lumber, which I've done it has enough room. Works great in the snow, no complaints. The drivers area is very well designed, roomy and classy looking. The seat has an adjustable lumbar support which is very easy to change. My stereo has a plug-in for an mp3 which I use daily. Guarentee you would like this car if you want... review »

We have TWO PT Cruisers. One is 2004 and the other is 2005. Absolutely no problems mechanically, interior or exterior. Before we got them, I always drooled at them, so when it was time to get another vehicle, my hubby had no doubt what we were going to look at. Chrysler products have always been in my family way back to my grandfather that had a Chrysler/Plymouth dealership in Springfield, Illinois in the 1940s. Now my "drooling" car is the beautiful Chrysler 300...........you always have to have a dream!!

Chrysler PT Cruisers are highly recommended by us in all areas such as mileage, comfort,...
