I own a Chinchilla and he is the most adorable thing on earth. He is so soft and cute.
Chinchillas are not hard to care for. It is no more than owning a cat or dog. Because of the thick, soft fur, chinchillas do not attract pests such as fleas and ticks. Insects will suffocate, so there is a bonus.
Their diet mainly contains berries and nuts and lots of Timothy Hay. They do have a sensitive stomach, therefore you have to be careful of what you feed it. You can buy chinchilla food at pet stores such as PetsMart and Petco. You can even buy some hamster foods that contains nuts and berries for chinchillas.
When they speak, they can bark or chirp. They are very fast when you let them run and they can squeeze into narrow spaces, so make sure you watch them carefully. They can also jump up to 3 feet.
The dust bath is the most important part in the care of the chinchilla. They need the bath to clean their fur in order for it to maintain its softness and fluffiness.
Otherwise, Chinchillas are great pets but not for the little one. A responsible adult would be the appropriate caretaker. If you are allergic to dust and pollen, I would not recommend a chinchilla since the dust they're bathe in is like seasonal allergies.
