Generally speaking, I'm not a big fan of pita bread.  I have nothing against it, really.  I just tend to find it rather bland and uninteresting.   Well, a recent trip to my local Chili's  Grill and Bar restaurant has caused me to rethink my opinion of the lowly pita.  Chili's Fajita Pita is listed on the Sandwich menu and costs a reasonable $7.49 for the sandwich and a side order of homestyle fries.

The sandwich was served hot from the grill.  The pita bread was warmly toasted and flipped in half like a taco shell.  Inside the pita was a bed of lettuce topped with strips of marinated chicken, and piled with grilled onions and green and red bell peppers.  The sandwich is topped with just a bit of Chili's "special sauce" which tastes similar to Thousand Island dressing.

The Fajita Pita weighs in at a reasonable 450 calories, 17grams of fat, 35 grams of carbs, 43 grams of protein, and 3 grams of fiber.  If you partake of the homestyle fries, add 260 calories to the meal's total.  Not low calorie, by any means, but you won't feel guilty eating this either.

I wholeheartedly recommend Chili's Fajita Pita Sandwich.  I had the chicken fajita sandwich, but they also offer a steak version.  The marinated chicken is flavorful, the meal is filling, and the calorie count won't annihilate your daily calorie limit.  Be sure to ask for extra napkins, though.  This fat little sandwich is a challenge to eat.

No, the sauce doesn't have a kick. There's not even much of it. But it's a nice taste. :)

Looks like a good one. Thanks. Did the special sauce have a bit of a kick to it?

I like Chili's (ok certain things there) so this sounds like a great new dish to try.

Not usually a Chili's fan, but this sounds good
