I tend to stay away from giving my children medicine if at all possible, an we have had great results with this product. It tastes great which is a huge plus for them. I like that it's homeopathic. It does seem to soothe their coughs just as well as traditional cough syrup which sometimes seems to just put them to sleep. I also like that it's an easy alternative to my home made cough remedies. I feel good about giving this product to my children when they are feeling bad.

My kids are very picky when it comes to taking any kind of throat or cough syrup and are especially adverse to anything that has a strong medicinal odor. They love eating grapes and cherries but it pretty much takes a strong-armed wrestler to get them to drink grape or cherry-flavored syrups. Tired of the fights and bribes (which rarely worked anyways), I was happy to discover Boiron Children's Chestal Honey Homeopathic Cough Syrup. Because it's homeopathic, I assumed that there would be no medicinal odor and with the honey flavor, I hoped that my kids would take it without a fight. I was wrong on both accounts, but only slightly. While the odor isn't medicinal, it is strong and very unpleasant. It's hard to describe what the smell is like but there is only a slight hint of honey. It smells like something rotten to me. Fortunately, the smell is the strongest when I open the bottle and not when the syrup is poured into a spoon. While the odor still lingers, it is much easier to handle in small doses (pun intended). My kids balked when I first tried to get them to try this syrup, but after some coaxing (and maybe a little threat or two), they eventually took it and said that it tasted okay. Honestly, I was just happy that they took it without throwing it back up, which they sometimes do. Once you get past the putrid smell and actually consume the syrup, I think that it really does work to reduce coughing. The dosage is one teaspoon every two hours for children ages 2-12. The hard part is to remember to administer it every two hours. Sometimes I forget and give it to them after they start coughing again. I think that this is a good homeopathic cough syrup and recommend it to anyone who feels that their child could get past the smell to take it.

I bought **Boiron Children's Chestal Honey Homeopathic Cough Syrup **a few months ago to stock up for cold season. The expiration date was over 2 years away so it was convenient to buy and leave in the medicine cabinet. Well, I was very glad I bought this for my two children. My eight year old got sick first. He is very picky on what flavors he likes and he was very happy with the honey flavor. For him - it did not taste like medicine. My two year old got sick next. She has a broader taste palette than my son but if something (rarely) doesn't strike her fancy she becomes very vocal about not eating/tasting it. Well, she loved the taste of the honey flavor. She would ask me all day long for me to give her medicine! Basically, it did a good job for a standard cold and the kids liked it a lot! Update: I even tried the adult version myself. It really works.

Boiron Children's Chestal Honey Homeopathic Cough Syrup is great for children. I had major reservations in giving this to my children. Mainly because it was homepathic. But in the end, I am glad I did. This stuff really works. But I do caution you...as with any medication, if the condition gets any worse after treatment, see a medical doctor immediately. But really, this is a wonderful product. I do not hesitate to recommend it at all. The company makes a lot of quality products, and we haven't found one yet that we did not like. This one isn't expensive. It is very reasonable and is in line with other products of its nature. It's sold at major stores nationwide, so finding it should not be a problem. The taste is ok for kids; they don't mind it. If it were not homepathic, I am sure they'd be such kinds as grape, orange, cherry. But since this is homeopathic, we get the real deal. Honey is great for so many things, and I am glad to see this product on the market today.

If your kids are like mine, it takes an act of God to get medicine down. I hate having to chase my kids around only to pour chemicals down their throat. That's why I"m so glad to have Chestal honey cough syrup. It tastes great, not like "medicine" at all. For that reason, I highly suggest locking yours in a cabinet because your kids will actually LIKE it! It is natural so I don't have to worry about side effects. It's also safe to give to the kids. It is very sweet so probably would be a shock to those who are not used to sugary things. The downfall is that you have to administer it every 2-4 hours. I found that it wasn't very helpful for my child's nighttime cough, but we remedied that by giving her a little something stronger at night. It wasn't very expensive at all, and I was able to find a coupon online to make it even less so. It used to be rather difficult to find but now it seems to be widely available.

The house that I share with my boyfriend recently became infested with mold due to a flood, and so I was subjected to a two-week bought of bronchitis and coughing. By the third day or so, my throat had become so raw from coughing that I could barely swallow. Although I had been taking other sore throat lozenges like Cepacol, the constant coughing made me feel like I was going to end up choking on the lozenge. My mom, who's a pediatrician, recommended Chestal for sore throat and coughing. The homeopathic label on it made me a bit iffy (I don't normally trust herbal remedies), but the large amount of honey and other good stuff in Chestal made my coughing quiet down long enough for me to eat. It's throat-searingly sweet, but anyone that has issues with that can easily add a dose to some warm milk for a tasty and soothing treat. Also, I'm not sure why it's tagged with "not great ingredients to preserve" in the cons section. Honey is the main ingredient, and it's the only food that we've found that will never rot. It'll last quite a while on the shelf!

It actually does work so I was hoping a homeopathic version would do more. This cough syrup is designed to combat dry coughs and loosen chest congestion. It will temporarily relieve coughs due to minor throat irritation. It will also help loosen mucus to help make coughs more effective. Considering that this was specifically designed for children, I felt a bit more comfortable administering this to him. The honey in this cough syrup is filtered to ensure the safety for children 2 years of age and older. The recommended dosage is one teaspoon every two hours. Any child under the age of 2 shouldn't take this because there are some medicinal ingredients that can affect the growth development of a younger child. My son was given the recommended dosage. I'm glad to say that it helped decrease his coughing fit within a couple of hours. It wasn't completely gone but it did loosen up the mucus inside of him. It also gives me some peace of mind to know that this is a natural cough relief formula with no artificial flavours or colours added into the mix. **Boiron Children's Chestal Honey Cough Syrup** works better than I expected. When my two year old came down with an upper respiratory infection, caused by a virus, and double ear infections, I became quite desperate in my search for a form of cough relief. Since my son is only two, and cannot be given normal children's cough medication yet, I was worried about finding many, if any, options in my hometown stores choices. All of the ingredients are natural and safe, and they are thoroughly explained and listed on the packaging. I am all for the natural, organic and homeopathic products out there for children. My son hates taking medication and gives quite a fit when expected to do so. When I first gave this medication to him, he of course threw a fit, but soon stopped when he actually tasted Chestal's cough syrup. I sometimes have waited til he goes to sleep to start quirting medications, especially bad ones, in his mouth and he usually doesn't fight much because he sub consciously begins to drink and swallow. I have an elementary school kid, a middle school kid and a high school kid. I usually have a ton of cough and cold medicines for each age group and whether the symptoms are runny nose, dry cough, wet cough, congestion, headache - I am fed up of all these varieties. But, I still patiently go over the fine print of each over the counter medicines and buy them to suit our needs. I end up with 15 different kinds each season. I am skeptical of using alternative medicine on my kids. A couple of my friends swear by alternative medicines. I had cough a while back. I decided to be the guinea pig myself and tried the Chestal honey on myself. I was surprised to feel better within a day . I used the medicine one day after( 2 days in total). Got a little confidence in it. I tried on my oldest . It worked. When my younger one started complaining of itchy throat and started signs of runny nose, I immediately gave him chestal cough. His runny nose and itchy throat were gone by next day. It is worth a try.
