Oh, now come on!!! Chicken Little?? The MOVIE??? And where could they go that would surprise us...but slap me silly and call me Stan, I was blown away by the stellar cast of voices, the animation, the firm mesh of friends and family sticking together against the odds, and comedy moves that still get me cackling (pun) into my popcorn after the fifth viewing! Even my stubborn ("I don't watch CG") significant other sat through to the end.

Parents should know ahead of time that this is not the movie to just plop your kids in front of the glowing "babysitter"...supervise your children, especially the little ones. Despite the name, this movie is oozing with mature subjects, anime-violence and could trouble some small viewers. It's a good movie to share with your child in case some of the scenes might be over the top of your childs head or just plain scary.

I didn't expect where the writers took this one but lets just say, it doesn't quite follow the original with much reverence besides the use of Chicken Little's name and the same of his ilk of barnyard sidekicks and a few new ones to boot.

So to set it up, Chicken isn't a bad egg but he is nothing like his sports hero father and doesn't get much respect from his community when he claims that he's been hit in the head by a piece of sky. Trying to save face, Chicken tries out for the sports team and wow, against the odds of him making the winning hit for his team the "acorns," he slaps that baseball sky high and earns a shot at baseball stardom! For a short time there, he isn't the town oddball and almost lives down his rep as a chicken who cried wolf until it happens again...a piece of sky(?) boinks him on the noggin and now, he's got to convince everyone (including his skeptical Dad) that he's not nuts. When he finally discovers what really hit him, he realizes that everyone is in danger!

With his friends, Runt the pig, Fish out of water and Ugly Duckling, he goes up against what is targeting his melon for humiliation and his town for annihilation.. Sky or not, whatever is threatening his town, Chicken knows that if he is going to gain his respect and save his town, its going to take some serious heavos and that's no yolk!

Great review. I loved this movie and find it is more for tween, teens and adults instead of smaller children. I find that with most of the new animations.

Great job on this - good warning about what is in the movie as we never know do we?

Cool; I edited it. Your right, that could have been awkward. It's best to be comprehensive in my reviews or I could end up with egg on my face...OK, enough chicken puns :)

Thanks for the warning.....yeah you might want to add that part to your review, just hit edit up on the top right. Better that parents know ahead of time or it could be a little awkward. ;) Ron

Cute...I like that this isn't a child-based movie. The kids will like it because it is animation but the puns and terminology is adult based. I probably should have mentioned that in my review...It has some adult issues and implied, anime-violence that might leave a small child in "nightmare-ville." The animators really took it up a notch despite the benign title, so if you have little ones, it's best to supervise thier viewing of this movie. Happy watching, kid!
