Chicco KeyFit Review Summary

Recommended by several professionals, including NICU nurses, the Chicco Key Fit Car Seat easily fits the smallest babies (4 lbs.) all the way up to 30 pounds. Equipped with a newborn insert parents like that they “didn‘t need to add anything to the car seat to accommodate [baby‘s] small size,” and that “baby seems comfortable in it“ the whole time. With high crash test ratings (“in the top 3”) and The Chicco Key Fit is one of the “easiest and safest [car seats] to use” as well as “one of the lightest car seats on the market.” In addition to the ease of installing in a vehicle, the Key Fit also snaps easily into Chicco strollers, creating even more convenience for parents. Despite the higher cost of the Chicco Key Fit infant seat, it still receives high ratings from our reviewers.

As a first time parent and the product of a safety conscience family, I wanted something that was super safe for my son.  I narrowed our choices through online searches, and then we headed to a local specialty baby store to see the products in person.   At first, I was hesitant about his car seat... read full review »

We loved the way the Chicco Keyfit and Cortina stroller looked first and foremost.  After reading many reviews though I decided it was a good purchase even though it was very pricey.  I hate the car seat now!!  It does not lock onto the shopping cart like most other car seats or on to high chairs...

I purchased the Chicco Keyfit 30 for my fourth child, and let me tell you I wished I had gotten one for all my kids.  This is the best car seat that I have ever owned.  I bought it in Extreme color.  It can hold a baby up to 30lbs.  It has a newborn insert for extra padding when they are small, then you can remove it when they get past 11lbs. The material was very soft and very durable.  I got a few stains on mine but they scrub right out.   My little boy always looked so comfortable in it and always slept well in it.  It also came with the Keyfit 30 car seat base, which made putting...

We decided on the Chicco Key Fit travel system after trying out several strollers in a big baby mega store. It was probably the most expensive, but after reading the reviews, we decided it was worth it. Ended up being a gift from family, so it worked out well.

I loved the newborn insert. It says it goes till 11 pounds, but we used it past that. My son is now 16 lbs and we still use the headrest. Just seems so comfortable for him. The car seat is our magic sleep machine. He's so cozy in it, he's asleep in minutes. Even if we just put him in it at home and rock it back and forth! He loves his car...

This is one of the best car seats on the market.  We researched and consumer reports ranked this as the highest car seat at the time we were looking, plus our friends recommended it.

My daughter was a preemie and was 5lbs when she came home from the hospital.  This car seat comes with a sort of cushion and headrest pillow area that are both removable once your child no longer needs or wants them.  It does hold up to 30 lbs which is one of the only car seats that is considered an infant seat that is rear facing for that long.

It comes with a base and you can buy additional bases seperately. ...

We purchased this carseat/travel system for our first born child.  We did A LOT of searching and looked at A LOT of reviews and the Chicco Keyfit system seemed to have THE BEST reviews for SAFETY and EASE OF USE.  Although we are are not rich, my husband and I wanted to get the safest seat regardless of price and we were grateful this seat received the best reviews and was not overly priced.  It is not the least expensive or most expensive model...it is moderately priced.

We chose the CHICCO Keyfit30 b/c we wanted our seat to last for a long time and wanted a seat we could use in a travel...

When I went car seat shopping for the first time, I had no idea what I was looking for! When I seen the Chicco Keyfit Travel System I thought it looked practical so that is what I went for. Wow!! Talk about beginners luck! I love it and would recommend it to everyone! It's so convenient and practical to be able to move my sleeping baby from the car to the stroller so I can shop, without ever waking him!! You just unclick the car seat out of the vehicle and click it right down into the stroller!! My oldest son is now 19 months old and still using the stroller. The infant seat is now on baby number...

As a first time parent and former nanny, the most important thing to me was the safety of the seat. After reading many reviews, both government and independent, I finally settled on the Chicco Keyfit. First of all, it was in the top 3 as far as safety ratings go. Second it's one of the lightest carseats on the market. The last thing I want to do is add extra weight when I'm carrying around a heavy baby. Third the ease of use. This carseat was extremly easy and quick to install, which makes taking the base out to wash my car or ride in someone elses car easy to do. And now that my son is 7 months... read full review »

I bought this carseat for my last child, he is number four and even though he could have just gotten the hand me downs of his only 18 month older brother I bought him a new one anyway. I figured Arion was the last baby I was going to have so why not go all out. Well let me just say I wish I would have had this carseat for all my kids! It was extremely durable and made to last. The quality of the fabric was awesome and better than other carseats I had bought in the past. I never had a carseat with the base that came off either so that was a definite plus. The only thing is that the base is really... read full review »

At first my husband and I added the Chicco stroller and carseat to our registry because we thought it was cool looking, the colors were right and it was fairly easy to take the carseat out and fold up the stroller.  The carseat seemed pretty light and the handle was comfortable.

Five months later, my husband and I went to a child CPR and child safety class and one of the carseats the teachers liked best and thought were the easiest and safest to use were the Chicco.  The pull strap in the front (which I was unaware what it was for)  ended up being the BEST feature on the whole carseat.  Once...

I chose this car seat for it's safety ratings as well as the look of it. It has a lot of padding on every side of the seat. it also seats infants 4lbs to 32lbs which is awesome. what really sold me was how deep the bab y sits in the seat i felt like she was protected from every angle. and the color i chose was just an added plus. we were in a wreck and my bab y was completly safe. the car seat sty intact did not move kept my infant safe and when it was over i took the seat apart and in speccted it you couldn't tell it was in the wreck. we disposed of it and replaced it. i would buy this seat over...

Our little boy is 4 months old and 17 lbs, so he quickly outgrew the Peg Perego carseat that we had used with our other (much smaller) son. We actually bought the KeyFit 30 that will hold babies up to 30 lbs. Our son has much more room and I love all the great safety ratings. Cost isn't an issue when it comes to my sons' safety, but it was less expensive than some of the other brands, yet got the best safety reviews by Consumer Reports, which I loved. I love the body and head inserts that it has for newborns too. Easy to install, easy to get in and out of the car, great color (we got the orange... read full review »

I baught a Chicco KeyFit in April 2008. I love it! It's easy to clean and dries fast. If there is a spill in the seat it goes onto the base and not the seat. There is also a little storage compartment that's big enough for the users manual and some extra passies. We chose this one because it was the safest out at the time. I love the funky orange color, I think it also comes in other colors. The only feature I wish it had is an ergonomic handle.

I love this carseat the chicco keyfit 30, I had to get it becuase my son was a preemie. But I love it he doesn't hate it either. It has a pocket to put toys, pacifers, bottles, diapers, wipes, etc. in. It comes in 3 different colors. It's easy to get in and out of the car, easy to rock baby in. Just an all around enjoyable carseat.

I love this stroller! It's easy to fold and unfold, easy to push, and a great buy. The infant seat that comes with the travel system snaps into place on the stroller easily, with nothing to click into place.
