lindsayrocksosu says "The best carseat on the market!" about Chicco KeyFit

This is one of the best car seats on the market. We researched and consumer reports ranked this as the highest car seat at the time we were looking, plus our friends recommended it.

My daughter was a preemie and was 5lbs when she came home from the hospital. This car seat comes with a sort of cushion and headrest pillow area that are both removable once your child no longer needs or wants them. It does hold up to 30 lbs which is one of the only car seats that is considered an infant seat that is rear facing for that long.

It comes with a base and you can buy additional bases seperately. If you have a fastening system in your car, that works to hold the base well. If not, you can use it without a base and just use a seatbelt to strap it into the car.

All of the moving parts are bright orange. The handle sticks up for carrying or lays back for when you're in the car and the release from the base is also orange.

We had a snuggle cover that we bought at a major retailer...
...

drolma says "Big baby beware. Seat belt installation only loosens over time." about Chicco KeyFit

At first I loved the Chicco KeyFit. My son was born early and was only 6 lbs. He fit in the seat perfectly. This seat is great for smaller babies.

The LATCH system is awesome. The seat stays secure in my husband's car using LATCH. If you have LATCH and a smaller baby, then I highly recommend the Chicco KeyFit.

This is where choosing the car seat that is right for you, rather than what is reportedly the safest comes in. If you have a larger baby, then the seat becomes too snug. My baby cries whenever we put him in the seat because it is very narrow and he is now a chunk. Also, my car is the primary car that is used for baby and does not have the LATCH system. I have found that using the seat belt only is not ideal for this car seat unless you want to be constantly reinstalling the base. The seat belt "lock" on the seat base does not really work that great and over a few uses the seat base loosens causing the need for a reinstall.

In the summer, baby was always sweaty...
...

lkub says "Both our babies were comfy and safe in the Chicco Key Fit!" about Chicco KeyFit

My husband (the engineer) chose this infant car seat because he said it didnn't feel flimsy and cheap like all the others. I'm so glad he chose it, because it's been great! It's easy to correctly install, and I love the LATCH connectors - they are so easy to use and have push buttons like seat belts. It's super easy to click in and out of the base and the Cortina stroller that it works with. Both my babies seemed comfortable and happy in this seat, and the fabric is really easy to remove and clean. We're going to pass it on to my cousin soon, and it looks brand new after 2 babies!

My only cons are that it doesn't click in to the shopping cart like others, but they say you're not really supposed to do that anyway. It sat in there fine, though. Also, our options for a compatible double stroller were limited when our 2nd baby was born, but we found one we loved. I also wished the sun shade came down a tad further.
...

Chicco KeyFit car seat is very sturdy and safe. However, it is heavy and bulky. What safe car seat isn't heavy? If you want a safe but a cheap car seat, this is the one to go. This car seat doesnt fit into shopping carts. If you go shopping by yourself a lot, you need to invest in a baby carrier as well. Ive used this car seat with both my kids. My biggest complaint is that my kids sweat a lot in it. The seat material is not cloth, but like a slick waterproof material which makes it very easy to keep clean.
...

I have a one month old at home and so far I am beyond impressed with the Chicco KeyFit infant car seat. My daughter fits super snug into the car seat which I prefer to the extra wiggle room that I've seen in other car seats. It is really easy to get into and out of the base, as well as the compatible stroller. The only complaint I have so far is that the straps could be a bit longer in order to make it easier to get over her shoulders before I tighten them.
...

anniedayton says "Very convenient!" about Chicco KeyFit

All the reviews I read about infant carseats said that Chicco KeyFit were among the highest in safety ratings. My sister also bought a Chicco KeyFit Infant carseat and loved it. So you may hear some of the same things - it is very convenient with the locking base, easy to install the base and easy to lock and unlock the carseat into the base. The carseat also works well without the base although if you have two cars, it may be more convenient to get a second base (as I have forgotten to buckle the carseat in the car without a base a couple of times). The 5-point harness is very easy to buckle and adjust. And the carseat just looks good - I get many compliments on it. My only complaints are the same as the others I have read - the carseat is a bit bulky and heavy although I think most carseats are like that. My daughter also gets very sweaty in it when the temperature is warm so the fabric on the carseat is not very breathable. And the sun visor doesn't extend enough to shade her very well....
...

I highly recommend the Chicco Keyfit travel system. The car seat is very easy to install, and to keep clean. The adjustment strap for the belt is one hand pull and push a button and pull on the strap to loosen it. The button in on the front of the seat, no need to "turn baby upside down" to find this. It has extra cushion for babys bottom. The stroller folds with the ease of one hand, it converts into a "bassinet" for when baby is laying down. I had a graco with my other two children and I can not say enough about the Chicco.
...

I did a lot of research before registering for a carseat. I read a lot of reviews stating that the Chicco KeyFit 30 made a lot of babies really hot when they were riding in it, but I decided to get it anyway because it was rated the highest by Consumer Reports. I'm so glad I decided to get it. I love this car seat! The infant inserts that come with it are great for providing a nice secure fit for a newborn, and we still use the head insert for my 9 month old daughter. It creates a nice little cushion for her head, especially when she falls asleep in the car seat. The straps are very easy to adjust, and I like how the base has a little level built in so you can made sure it's strapped in to the car properly. We got the Extreme fabric, and I love how easy it is to clean. It's easy to wipe off, and I've also run it through the washing machine a couple of times and it still looks brand new. During the summer months I did notice my daughter felt a little warm after riding...
...

The Chicco KeyFit travel system is excellent. It includes the car seat, car seat base, and stroller. The infant carrier fits perfectly into the stroller, unlike other travel systems. It also features a one touch collapse button on the stroller, which makes it easy to set up and take down with just one hand. There are also levels on the sides of the car seat base in order to insure a proper installation. Furthermore, there are cranks to adjust the straps as your child grows older, instead of having to rethread the straps. This travel sytem comes in a variety of colors- gray, red, green/brown, pink, blue- so you can get a girl or boy specifc one or a unisex one, depending on your needs. I have fallen in love with this travel system and cannot wait to continue to use it throughout the years. It is also nice that the car seat is for infants up to 30 pounds, while many are only for up to 22 pounds.
...

My wife and I have used a variety of car seats on our travels and the Chicco Keyfit 30 is absolutely the best! It is far more sturdy than many other car seats. The base installs in less than a minute in either of our cars. One which has the quick attachment car seat anchors and the other car seat does not . . . which requires securing the base with a seatbelt. Attaching the car seat in either situation is easy and very secure. The other great benefit is that you can keep your infant in the keyfit 30 until he or she is a full 30 pounds. This means that he or she is safer for longer. Our son happens to be quite tall and heavy and so the keyfit 30 will last the full first year - which is recommended for safety reasons. The seat and head support systems are great also, much better than other systems. The only potential down side to the car seat is that it is larger than many of the other seat you may find. It is larger for two reasons, 1 - it is designed for babies up to...
...

crissy148 says "Chicco makes it easy to get around" about Chicco KeyFit

I have a Chicco Keyfit Travel System which was bought in 2009. I really like the ability to Move the baby from car to stroller to home easily. If the baby is sleeping, it makes for a smooth transition. It also is easy to switch from one vehicle to another, since we have multiple people in our family who want ample baby time! The part of the car seat that stays in the car is expensive though, considering most people want multiples of that part. The seat comes with cushions for the baby which velcro in, and protect the baby's head and help the baby fit into the seat better when they are smaller. This eliminated the need to buy one of those headrests to add into the car seat. My best susggestion when buying this seat though, is check to see it fits in your car correctly. My car has a slight incline in the seat, which makes it hard for the base to stay put when going around curves. We had the people at the hospital check it (law here in NJ) and they said it was in as best as they could get...
...
