Chicco KeyFit Car Seat Review Summary

Recommended by several professionals, including NICU nurses, the Chicco Key Fit Car Seat easily fits the smallest babies all the way up to 30 pounds. Equipped with a newborn insert parents like that they “didn‘t need to add anything to the car seat to accommodate [baby‘s] small size,” and that “baby seems comfortable in it“ the whole time. With high crash test ratings (“in the top 3”) and The Chicco Key Fit is one of the “easiest and safest [car seats] to use” as well as “one of the lightest car seats on the market.” In addition to the ease of installing in a vehicle, the Key Fit also snaps easily into Chicco strollers, creating even more convenience for parents. Despite the higher cost of the Chicco Key Fit infant seat, it still receives high ratings from our reviewers.

As a first time parent and the product of a safety conscience family, I wanted something that was super safe for my son.  I narrowed our choices through online searches, and then we headed to a local specialty baby store to see the products in person.   At first, I was hesitant about his car seat because of the hefty price.  However, once I saw how easily it locks into its base and how easy it is to get out of the car, I was sold!  It is a super safe seat and great for small babies.  We planned on our son being a big baby, but when he arrived six weeks early at… read full review »

We decided on the Chicco Key Fit travel system after trying out several strollers in a big baby mega store. It was probably the most expensive, but after reading the reviews, we decided it was worth it. Ended up being a gift from family, so it worked out well. — I loved the newborn insert. It says it goes till 11 pounds, but we used it past that. My son is now 16 lbs and we still use the headrest. Just seems so comfortable for him. The car seat is our magic sleep machine. He's so cozy in it, he's asleep in minutes. Even if we just put him in it at home and rock it back and forth! He… read full review »

As a first time parent and former nanny, the most important thing to me was the safety of the seat. After reading many reviews, both government and independent, I finally settled on the Chicco Keyfit. First of all, it was in the top 3 as far as safety ratings go. Second it's one of the lightest carseats on the market. The last thing I want to do is add extra weight when I'm carrying around a heavy baby. Third the ease of use. This carseat was extremly easy and quick to install, which makes taking the base out to wash my car or ride in someone elses car easy to do. And now that my son is 7… read full review »

At first my husband and I added the Chicco stroller and carseat to our registry because we thought it was cool looking, the colors were right and it was fairly easy to take the carseat out and fold up the stroller.  The carseat seemed pretty light and the handle was comfortable. — Five months later, my husband and I went to a child CPR and child safety class and one of the carseats the teachers liked best and thought were the easiest and safest to use were the Chicco.  The pull strap in the front (which I was unaware what it was for)  ended up being the BEST feature on… read full review »

I've been happy with our carseat, but would buy a different one were I to do it over again.  Neither the lining of the carseat nor the straps are removable for thorough washing, which would seem like a must and a no-brainer to me.  I do like the easily adjustable system for getting baby in and out.  Our baby seems very comfortable in it, and the material doesn't seem to exacerbate hot or cold weather.  — — My main precaution is to check recent safety precautions with this carseat base system, as I read after purchasing mine that it didn't crash test… read full review »

I absolutly love this carseat.  I never have any problems with it.  Their are 2 different strollers to choose from to use as a travel system.  The carseat easily comes apart for washing.  The added inserts for securing the baby when the baby is still small are great.  I have taken out the head rest part for my son, but am able to keep in the body support for him.  The safety ratings are great.  The straps are easily adjustable.  It is a little pricey, but I am willing to pay the extra for the safety that this carseat provides.  I have had several… read full review »

This is a great car seat!!  First off, I know you aren't supposed to care about how it looks, but it looks great.  No cheesey designs.  Thank goodness.  My son was two months premature, so he was small when he came home from the hospital and this car seat actually fit him.  The surprising thing was that my son had caught up in size by a year and he still fit in the car seat.  The car seat is incredibly easy to install and has all the latest safety features.  I actually got this as part of the travel system with Ct 0.1 travel system which I also… read full review »

I have this car seat for about 4 months already. It is the best car sear out there, easy to use. specially the car seat base has a leveler on it, so you can tell if the car seat is balance or not. I will definitely recommend it.  the car seat has 3 different strap positions for the baby size.  It has a five point harness just like racing seat.  Chicco is a good brand,  I have car seat, stroller, playyard from Chicco.  The price is pretty decent for the parents.  I have been looking at the car seat for long time, and I think this is one of the good car seat ou… read full review »

I didn't want to purchase a new stroller/carseat for my second child but my first one was over 7 years old and need to be done.  I did some research on the Chicco and it was rated well by others.  It is easy to use, the base of the carseat has a leveler so you know it is always level in any car. Love the stroller, it can be set up or taken down with one hand.  I've done it several times while holding my son :)  I really don't have any complaints except I wish the basket was slightly larger and the cup holder was deeper.  My drink seems to fall out when on a bumpy… read full review »

We love this car seat.  It has a trendy look that looks great in our car.  We love that it is at the top of the charts for safety reasons.  Once the base is installed the seat is so easy to click in and out.  The newbown insert was great for when our baby was small.  The straps are easy to use and adjust.  We also have the stroller as part of the travel system.  This car seat fits easily into the stroller.  The only downfall is that the material can get warm and sometimes our baby is a little sweaty on his back after sitting in it for a… read full review »

I love this carseat. My husband and I spent over 2 hours just looking at carseats. We spoke to people who install carseats for a living and this one was highly recommended. This carseat had high marks on consumer reports as well. We loved this carseat from the moment we purchased it. It's extremel;y easy to use, and my son always looked very comfortable in it. I would recomend this carseat to… read full review »

Really like this car seat despite the price ($165 or so...) I like the fact that it will hold my big boy until 30 pounds or inches, whichever comes first. Handy strap release and infant insert. My only complaint is a small sunshade and I would like more color choices.  —… read full review »

I have had 4 children and I simply love these car seats.  I love how easy they are to install and how well the children are buckled in.  It's always nice to know that your children are safe as you are driving. They are also very durable and great to hold onto if you are planning on having more children.   I used mine for all four of my children.  I did though get rid of it after the fourth thinking I wasn't going to have any more children, (that's what I get!)  but I am looking to purchase another one and holding on to this… read full review »
