Chicco KeyFit Review

This is one of the best car seats on the market.  We researched and consumer reports ranked this as the highest car seat at the time we were looking, plus our friends recommended it. 

My daughter was a preemie and was 5lbs when she came home from the hospital.  This car seat comes with a sort of cushion and headrest pillow area that are both removable once your child no longer needs or wants them.  It does hold up to 30 lbs which is one of the only car seats that is considered an infant seat that is rear facing for that long.

It comes with a base and you can buy additional bases seperately.  If you have a fastening system in your car, that works to hold the base well.  If not, you can use it without a base and just use a seatbelt to strap it into the car. 

All of the moving parts are bright orange.  The handle sticks up for carrying or lays back for when you're in the car and the release from the base is also orange. 

We had a snuggle cover that we bought at a major retailer (Target or Walmart probably) and it fit over the car seat perfectly, kept baby warm in winter months and didn't pop off. 

It also has a partial hood and sun visor which is super helpful.  It fits in the Chicco Cortina Stroller and can be bought as a travel system or by itself. 

The only negative is that it is pretty heavy.  I was able to carry my daughter in it until she was a little under a year old, however she is on the smaller side, so I imagine it would be difficult to carry a heavy baby in the heavy carseat!
