Bulky Hook on Chair

3

I got this chair thinking it would be great for my kitchen couter where we eat dinner everynight. It hasn't worked out so well! First of all, teh chair arms/hooks reguire a fairly significant depth for them to hook on. I'm sure that if it were a table with nothing underneath it would work fine- but with the counter undrneath ours it just didn't work out (and we have a really huge overhang). Another feature that I didn't like is that the chair doesn't fold very compact. I was hoping that even though it didn't work in my house I would would be able to use it as a travel hightchair. The problem is that even when folded/collapsed it is really bulky and huge. It also doesn't fold really easily- takes a big of play before you get it to fold properly. The fabric seat isn't the ideal material for a highchair as it doesn't clean very easily and the weave holds in little particales of food a little too well!

Chicco Caddy Hook On Great Space Saver

5

When our first daughter was born, we purchased a bulky Graco highchair.  When our second daughter was born, we realized that we no longer wanted a large bulky highchair.  While at a restaurant, we saw a couple with their child in the Chicco caddy hook-on chair.  This is when my husband and I became very interested in this little invention.  For us this would eliminate the bulky high chair in our kitchen, it would allow our daughter to sit at the table with us and eat together, and it would allow us to bring it to restaurants or when we traveled.  There were so many pros.  After our purchase, we were sold.  Our daughter loved it and we loved that we could eat together as a a family.  The first time cleaning the entire chair was a little tricky, but once I figured it out, it was very simple.  We have since sold ours because our daughter outgrew it, but this is something that we would definitely purchase with future children.

sort of a love-hate relationship

I agree with both sides of the spectrum of reviews here - at times I think we could not live without this chair and other times I downright hate it.  We have a great high chair, but we needed something to put my 15 month old in while we were in the kitchen.  Since this chair fits perfectly on the edge of our island, we end up using it on a daily basis.  My son doesn't mind sitting in it at all - I actually think he prefers it over his high chair.  But, it is hard to clean and boy, does it get dirty quickly!  It would have been nice it the designers had figured out a way to take the canvas seat off without having to dismantle the entire frame.  It's a pain in the neck.  And I end up dismantling and washing the things 2-3 times a week.  That being said, it's a lifesaver and probably worth the aggravation.  Whenever we go to a relative's house for dinner, this always comes in handy - and people always say "how smart is that!"

Chicco hook on chair - convenient and easy

2

We purchased this hook on high chair about two months ago and have used it several times since. We have used it in several restaurants, as well as hooked it on the end of our picnic table when we went camping. The seat is fairly heavy. The part that hooks on the chair folds in to make it more compact, but there is no way to lock it when it is folded so it pops open - we solved this problem by keeping a strip of velcro around it and we just fasten it together when we fold it up, but it is inconvenient and the most annoying thing about this chair. We like that it is easy to attach this to a table, and the cloth cover comes off easily for washing. We have washed it once and it made it through the machine fine. It would be nice if the cover was made with a wipe-able material instead of cloth. If I was going to buy a product like this again, I would look for one that has a better design for folding up and one that is made of wipe-able material.

great for those spontaneous meals out with your toddler

As a busy mom with an active toddler and a family that likes to be on the go, I LOVE this  high chair!  My husband and I spotted another family using it for their toddler one night while out to dinner on a "date night" without our son.  We knew immediately that it was something we needed to get.  This high chair is so convenient, it  takes up very little space in the trunk of our car and we are always able to carry it with us  thanks to the handy bag.  We can easily bring it into any restaurant and we aer sure that it will fit correctly at the table so that our son, who is now 2 1/2 can sit comfortably and safely.  I don't have to worry about a restaurant having high chairs with broken straps or high chairs that are just old and unstable.  I can throw the lining in the washing machine anytime we have a spill, and we are good to go in a few minutes!  This high chair is a lifesaver... we love it so much that we actually bought too so that we could leave one at home and one in the car.  I would suggest it for any family with babies and toddlers.

Hard to use and my kids didn't love it.

We purchased the Chicco caddy to use during a move, traveling and when we would go out to eat with our daughter. At first I really liked it, but the more we used it the more I found that it just didn't fit on alot of tables. It was a bit cumbersome to install and then my daughter would spend the entire meal trying to climb out of it and onto the table. The seatbelt was hard to adjust properly to get a good fit and the lack of 5 point harness - which we were spoiled with on our regular full size high chair - meant that our daughter could wiggle out. It is machine washable, but you have to unassemble it to put the fabric parts in the washer. Also when you fold it, it doesn't stay folded. It flips open while you are carrying it and while it does fold flat, it is still large and takes us alot of space. If I was buying a travel chair again, I would get the kind that fold in half and have a wipeable seat.

Good for infrequent use and for traveling.

My Mother-In-Law has the Chicco Caddy Hook On Chair for when the grandkids come over.  This chair is comfortable for my son and takes up less space than a conventional highchair.  The way this chair hooks on is much easier and faster than the way you have to screw on and unscrew other similar hook-on chairs, like the one I have for traveling and vacations.  It's nice to have a compact highchair available when you're not sure if wherever you're going will have one.  I think the fact that you have to put it in the washer to get it clean is a bit of a negative.  Washing and drying is a long process when you need to use the chair at least three times a day.  I suppose it depends how much you are in need of the extra space.  I like this high chair for infrequent use, but for everyday use I'd prefer to use a hard plastic booster highchair that straps down to whatever chairs you use for your table.  The price was nice.

chicco hook-on chair is great, but difficult to fold

4

We got this chicco caddy hook on chair for our first son.  I have used it for him (he's 7 months old now), as well as for a couple other toddlers that I've babysat.  It is sturdy; even the toddlers fit in it well and it holds them securely.  Even though my son is small, because he can sit up, he sits in it well and enjoys it too.  It hooks onto the table fairly easily, and even goes over the bar that hangs down under our table.  It took me FOREVER to figure out how to fold it up.  THe tiny little metal protrusions are hard to push in at the same time in order to fold each "leg".  Once they are folded, you have to hold it in just the right way so it doesn't fall open again.  It is a big pain.  It is fairly easy to wash off the fabric with a cloth or wipe, but I haven't tried to take the whole thing off to put in the wash yet, although it needs it because he bites the fabric in between bites of solids and it is quite messy.  The actual seat part that they sit on just wipes clean, which is nice.  I think although this chair will work for us, and does fold pretty flat, next time I would go with their 360 chair that turns so the baby can face you while eating.

Great, except sometime really hard to get off the table

My husband and I bought this particular chair when my son was big enough to start eating solid foods. We decided on this chair because of it's price, and the fact that we lived in an apartment and were looking for something that didn't take up any floor space. Overall, we were very happy with it and we have packed it away to use for our future children. It cleaned up easily, mostly with a damp cloth. We liked that it allowed our son to sit right at the table with us and took up minimal space in our small apartment. But, when it came time to take it off the table and clean underneath the clamps, one of the clamps was always quite difficult to loosen. I would spend several minutes trying to get it off the table. The clamp would eventually loosen, which seemed to always happen just by chance. I think it was possibly just a defect with our chair because the other clamp always loosened without any problems. Obviously, we have kept it and plan to use it again in the future. I have even recommended it to a friend!

Chicco Chair: Excellent quality, space-saving, sturdy and comfy

We bought this chair specifically to use when we travel (grandparents' or aunts' homes) or when we visit friends -- especially friends who don't have kids of their own and thus, no spare high chairs or kid seats.  We ended up liking it so well that we use it quite often at home even though we also have a full-sized high chair with tray.  Plus, when we have guests over with little kids we have a spare to offer them! First, the portability is excellent.  Easy to fold, and lightweight.  Hooks onto most tables quickly and securely. Second, it is impossible for even our almost 2-year-old, squirmy climbing little boy to wriggle himself free from this chair.  A miracle in itself! Third, the weight liimit (37 lbs) allows for long usage.  We started using this for him at 5 months (though he was sitting and eating solids a bit early), and he'll probably still be using it for at least another year. Baby loves being AT the table with the rest of the family, instead of in his other high chair, which is another plus.  Pretty easy to disassemble for a thorough cleaning, once you figure it out the first time, too.
