When I got a chance to fly to Chicago for the Viewpoints Launch Party, I decided I better jump right on that. I'd been to Chicago, but it was 20 or more years ago and was out in the suburbs.

Chicago is a really pretty city right on the lake and with a river through the side of the city. I love to be on the water, so I especially loved that about Chicago.

It's easy to grab the subway from O'Hare in to the middle of town (though not quite so simple heading back in my case). It does take close to an hour to get to the city from the airport, so this is not a city you can visit quickly between flights....

We were almost home when we hit Portage, Indiana the next to last stop before Massachusetts. We stayed at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park. This is not a park we would normally stay at without children; it just happened to be one of the closest to Chicago and we had Passport America so it only cost us $24.90. (Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.) I truly do not know how anyone can stay there because although we asked for a quiet site we were put not only on the highway but between the highway and trains.

The site iwas large but so muddy my husband had to move the car so I could get in. One...

Chicago has it all! Sight seeing, shopping, museums, you name it! It is a great place for a family vacation especially if your children are old enough to appreciate the fabulous museums there...Shedd Aquarium with its Beluga whales and the Field museum of Natural History with A full sized African elephant, a complete T-Rex skeleton, and a world class Egyptian display including the mummy of Ramses II (remember Moses and the Pharoah who chased him across the Red Sea?). Also (my personal favorite) is the Museum of Science and Industry. Here you will find a working coal mine, an entire captured U-boat,... read full review »

There are plenty of attractions to please most travelers. There is a wide variety of things to do. It is possible to walk to avoid traffic problems. Downtown parking is very expensive, especially if you want to visit several places. However, you can get a one day or a few days CTA visitor pass and use public transportation very inexpensively, plus there are free streetcars to various tourist locales. There are plenty of places to eat and shop. Navy Pier is one of the attractions that makes the visit to Chicago very worthwhile. The Shedd Aquarium is outstanding. City passes can be purchased to visit... read full review »

I've visited Chicago last November. It's really windy but I really like the place. My family went to the millenium park and all over the downtown area in Chicago. You really have to go to the Sears tower. There are many places to go there like the Navy pier which is really a must go. It's a really good place to go. A walk in the city may be good to but may be chilly in cold months. I would really recommend you to go to Chicago. And if I would be asked if I would go back there I will and would bring people to show the place.

Everything a large city can offer from theater, music, culture. All withing walking distance. Public transportation is cost effective and very efficient. People willing to assist with directions and/or suggestions. Wonderful restaurants with tastes from around the world. Spring, Summer and Fall is the most fastastic time to visit and enjoy the outdoors. The lake front miles long park is a sight no where else in the world.

We spent 2 days in Chicago in October 2007. We stayed in Lombard & took the train into Chicago both days. The hotels are cheaper & the train wasn't expensive, plus we didn't have to try & find a place to park. There's a lot to see & do. We walked everywhere. It was also easy to get around the city.

One of the best things to do in Chicago is to take the Gangster Tour.  It was loads of fun as well as being informative.  It's a much better tour than some of the other tours.  The guides are dressed as gangsters and they tell you all kinds of trivia.  It's a fun activity for any age.

Chicago is a fasinating city and very managable.  Michigan Ave at the Holidays is aboslutely stunning.  It really is an excelent alternative to NYC.  Excellent Museums, Shopping, and Live Theater.  Plus some of the best restaurants.
