We were almost home when we hit Portage, Indiana the next to last stop before Massachusetts. We stayed at Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park. This is not a park we would normally stay at without children; it just happened to be one of the closest to Chicago and we had Passport America so it only cost us $24.90. (Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.) I truly do not know how anyone can stay there because although we asked for a quiet site we were put not only on the highway but between the highway and trains.

The site iwas large but so muddy my husband had to move the car so I could get in. One morning there were a couple of men who worked there commenting on the water problem but when we came back nothing had been done. We were told that we were in one of 45 spots that were vacant because the people had been evicted.

There are lots to do here, canoeing, fishing, swimming and paddle boats on a lake in the middle of the park. Next time I would pay twice as much as stay elsewhere.

We really stopped here to meet the folks at Viewpoints. My husband parked in a lot that could be validated while four of us went to lunch at the gym where Matt (The CEO) goes. (Can you say Oprah?). Needless to say the gym was amazing as were the countless pools, the rooftop dining and the dining area in which we had a great meal.

From there we parked at Millennium Park (http://www.millenniumpark.org/) took the Chicago Double Decker Tour Bus for 2 hours. The cost was $25 for the bus and $17 to park! The tour guide was wonderful. He had an amazing wealth of knowledge such as every detail of Lake Michigan.

The tour was really worthwhile. A picture of the Navy Pier is below. We decided to walk around beautiful Millennium Park which is a review unto itself had we spent longer than an hour here. I have to note the most unusual water fall that has a hidden camera so it shows people's faces. You'll be able to see it here www.millenniumpark.org/artandarchitecture/ but that can't do justice to seeing it in person. We got coffee at Caribou Coffee Company and dinner at The Chicago Diner.

There was a new Whole Foods around the corner we were delighted to find out about. This will not be our last trip to Chicago. It's a terrific city with so much to do. I wish we had given ourselves several days here instead of essentially one.

I like it!

I'm glad you liked our area, Jo. I love Chicago even though I don't miss my daily commutes in there. Maybe sometime when you visit again, I could meet you guys downtown for lunch.

The only times I was ever in the Windy City was when I drove a truck, no sightseeing ;( Sad thing I also used to live only 4 hours away..lol Oh well one day I will go back there and see the sights. Great Review Jo Ty ;) Ron

Ron, maybe VP's will have a meet and great. They had one this summer. I couldn't go and they helped with finances. That would be so great now that there are more of us and we are getting to know each other. Thanks for the comment. I know it's backwards because I had a comment here about spaces in the review that fixed themselves so I write this comment here.
