The pricetag is horrendous. Let's just get that out of the way right now. Whenever it comes to spending over $100 on a hair care tool, you really have to evaluate whether or not it's worth the price.
In this case, I'll say yes and no.
When CHI first came out, I was sketical, but a friend of mine let me try hers before commiting. And let me tell ya, it was perfect in every way imaginable. I realized instantly that this flat iron would literally save me thousands of dollars over the next few years because, instead of going to the hair dresser, I could do my hair at home-- and it would look even straighter.
I went out, bought one of my own, and was happy for two years, until mine broke. This is where the "no" comes in. Evidently, the glue loses its strength over time, and the plates come off. Since I don't like the idea of using hot glue or super glue on something that touches my hair, I decided to buy a cheaper replacement. You see, when CHI came out, it was virtually unchallenged, but within two years, the marketplace was saturated. I found a flat iron at Sally's, and it costs $75 less, but was just as effective. I've had it for three years now, no problems with the glue!
The moral of the story is that CHI is great, and if you find it for a great price, go for it! But, remember that there are equal alternatives out there for less.
