I first learned what an Ultra Chi was from my boyfriend's 16-year old daughter. I thought that hair a straightener was a hair straightener. I rarely even tried to straighten my wavy hair because it always took way too long. I'm like most of you....busy, busy, busy.
The Ultra Chiis a quality product that can straighten my long, wavy hair in 15 -20 mins. (I'm no pro) compared to my other off-brand straightener which took a minimum of 1 hour! No kidding!!
I bought our first Ultra Chi from the local Ulta Beauty Storeat Christmas time, for my pre-teen daughter, when it was on sale. I think that they normally cost around $179 and I got ours on sale for $149 (plus it came with a free carrying pouch and matching watch - all in pink of course!). After Christmas I was depressed because they went on sale again, this time for $99!!! Yeeeeoow that's a big difference!
The Ultra Chi comes in a few different sizes (width of the straightener). I chose the 1-inch. They now have a Turbo Chi for about $200. I've heard (from my boyfriend's daughter again) that the Turbo Chi is "way awesome" and straightens even quicker than the Ultra Chi. I can't bring myself to even think about buying another one because we're talking about a lot of money.
The store representative did tell me that the Ultra Chi should last a minimum of 3 years. I'm counting on it. The time that it saves you in front of the mirror is worth it to me.
Advice: Always use a styling cream (such as Biosilk) before you use the straightener so that it will prevent damage to your hair over time.
