My daughter has extremely curly hair but likes to wear it straight. We tried all the low and mid priced flat irons on the market. None of the flat irons we tried even closely compared to the Chi ceramic flat iron. It heats up very fast. It stays very hot so that styling and straightening is extremely quick and easy. Other good qualities about this flat iron is that the cord is made so that it doesn't tangle or crimp. The only downfalls of the chi ceramic flat iron is that the one we have doesn't have an automatic shut off switch so if my daughter forgets to turn it off in the morning, its left on all day. The other downfall for some might be that it does get so hot. If you don't run it through your hair quickly, it can actually burn your hair if your hair is fine or delicate. For curly, coarse hair, the hotter the better. The biggest set back for the chi ceramic iron is the cost. These irons are significantly more expensive than other brands, but I have to say, the additional cost is well worth it.
