To the Point

I have never liked our truck. Before we got our SUV this was the vehicle we used to tow our Sun-Lite 21- RDB Travel Trailer. I sat in it for many days! This was and still is the truck we have moved three kids into dorms and out of dorms; into apartments and out of apartments for ½ dozen years. We bought it after having minivans for years. The kids were grown, but we still wanted something with room to haul things in. The S-10 was inexpensive and my husband liked it.

A Closer View

We added a cab to it and there are some aspects I do like though I rarely use it. It is still going strong after 150,000 miles and is used as my husband’s commuting vehicle.

There are some pros:

With the cab on top, I don't have to worry about groceries, etc. getting wet.

We have slept in it. My husband rigged a platform and with a foam mattress it was fairly comfortable.

We can put a lot in it. Rather than having our town pick up trash we bring our trash and recyclables to the dump. It holds trash barrels and our recycle bins easily.

It was a great vehicle for towing our last travel trailer.

There are some cons:

I don't like the ride. I think it gives a bumpy ride. For me the truck is car sickness waiting to happen.

The seats are uncomfortable. My back used to hurt during long rides. I bougth all sorts of back pillows for our long days of traveling.

I hear the outside noise more than I think I should.

The rear door is heavy to lift. I'm strong, but I would think someone else may have trouble with it.

We have the 3rd door which is nice because it gives extra room behind the driver and passenger's seats. However if there is a lot of stuff behind the passenger's seat, the seat won't go down to recline.

The 3rd door also gives you an extra seat. Well 'll call it a mini-seat. A child can sit in it and in an emergency an adult, but not for long. In addition, it doesn't face forward which for many people is uncomfortable.

It has been reliable, I'll give it that and it does get the job done, but I wouldn't buy another one. Basically it is a 2 person vehicle so you need to have another car if you have a family or want to transport friends.

Jo's Viewpoint

I don't like it!

Hey Jo! Good review. Rather accurate. I had the truck and ridded of the truck really fast. The truck was brand new and had huge issues right off the bat! I purchased the vehicle with a few hundred miles on it. The rear was messed up. Upon bringing it to the service and repair, they said it was fine. It wasn't. Horrible experience with that truck!

150,000 miles! Wow. I can't believe it is still running. Your comment about the "rigged up" made me laugh. When I was growing up we had a baby blue Chevy Suburban early seventies model. My dad "rigged up" a mattress and all four kids would sleep up there on long trips with the luggage under the platform. Probably not the safest set up in the world but better than sitting in the bumpy plastic seats. ">)
