We have a Chevrolet Tahoe and when the price of gas went sky high getting 10 miles to the gallon wasn't cutting it so off we went car shopping. We looked around for quite awhile and the HHR seemed to be the only car with a decent price tag, decent gas mileage and a decent look. This is a little car that big SUV people can learn to love.

There are many models to choose from: LT, LS, 1LT & 1 LS, along with some special additions. We got the LS, the base model automatic with no extra bells and whistles. The nice thing about the LT is it comes from a few bells and whistles standard: power doors & windows, AM/FM/CD radio, REMOTE vehicle start (cool function when its cold), and information center in the dash. There is ample leg room in the front and the back. The motor on the LT is the smallest of all the models but this car can still get up and go and doesn't have that lawnmower engine sound a lot of small cars does. The gas mileage is good and although they advertise something like 30 mpg, we have found that in the city it is more like 20-23 mpg. Still good!

This car is a quick change artist and has several different compartments, 2 in the dash, and many in the hatchback area for storing things. The ones in the hatchback area are rather large and are not visible unless you pick up the rug that covers the floor area. The storage area back here is definitely large enough for some shopping bags, or a large purse.

The biggest drawback I have found is that there is a weird pressure created when you crack just one of the front windows. You can only solve the problem by lower one of the back windows a few inches which often creates to much wind. The only other complaint I have is there is a small pencil eraser size light mounted in the center of the roof in the drivers compartment. There is no way to shut the light off and while it isn't a huge problem I would like the option of shutting if off.
