We bought this car a year ago, and now trying to get rid of it. It's beautiful on the outside, looks like a classic car, and we have been getting lots of compliments on it because of its looks. It is gas efficient compared to many other vehicles. But it is cheaply built, and that is its worst drawback. We have had to replace several parts in it already. 300 bucks here, 500 there, it ads up for a car this new, if you don't have an extended warranty on it (and that can also get expensive per month). Compared to our 2004 Impala that ran like a kitten for several years without needing a single part replaced. Since HHR is a newer model, you can only get it fixed at a dealer costing you more, because most small mom and pop service places don't know much about the HHR's. I am holding my breath that it won't fall apart before we are ready to trade it in for something a little higher quality.
BTW, someone mentioned it being safe. Well, ours started having a weird wheel noise just a couple of months after we bought it, and when my husband took it in, he was told that had we waited longer to get this fixed, the wheel could have come off while he was driving causing an accident.
