I rented the Chevy Cobolt at Avis for travel from Rohnert Park, CA to Las Vegas, NV to save some gas instead of using my gas guzziling van. It was only me, my wife, six yr old daughter & Shih Tzu traveling for our wedding anniversary.
I had alot of bump steer everytime I hit some dip or bump in the road, so it was annoying keeping it straight. Going up the mountains it was struggling doing 55 - 60 mph. Tranny didn't want to down shift get some torque going up. I was watching the coolant temp. guage jump from 187 to 230 deg. F or higher. Didn't save as much gas as I thought I would. Only 29 MPG average. My '86 corolla gets the same mileage and is alot faster with more torque.
The cup holders were too close to the climate controls. Drivers seat would not return to upright position without holding the recline handle. Center console arm rest was on top of the e-brake. AC bottom vent barely worked underneath the seat to get air to the rear passengers. The back end of the car was so high in the air, thats 30 percent of what you see in the rear view mirror. Rear view mirror is small also, I had to grab my convex mirror and put it on top of it so I can see the side windows.
This car definately needs some more engineering, and upgraded suspension.
