Chevrolet Cavalier - 2004 Review Summary

The 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier is a small car that has both its pro’s and con’s. As far as safety goes, the ’04 Chevrolet Cavalier, is a small car and does not have side airbags. Owners have noted that repairs can be costly and the Cavalier could have been made out of better quality materials. If you are looking for a small car without any luxuries, then the Chevrolet Cavalier 2004 may be the car you are looking for. If not, check out a larger vehicle such as the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu.

Everything about this car is cheap! The door handles, the seats, the gauges, you name it, it looks and feels cheap as can be.

I purchased this 2004 model cavalier coupe late in 2003.  It currently has 60,000 miles on it and has been kept up with tire rotations and oil changes regularily.  I haven't had to soak much money into it (thankfully) - the only main maintenance cost outside of tires and oil changes was front brakes (400 bucks!).

Both the heat and a/c are very strong.  This is both good and bad.  While the heat is good, the front defroster is TERRIBLE.It doesnt feel like it blows...

The Chevrolet Cavalier is like driving around in a tin can! This car is a piece of ummmm crap, would be the nice way to put it. The hub caps fall off, have been replaced just to fall off again! The side mirrors have actually fallen off as well! This is a family car, its not like we are some teenagers driving around in it. We have always taken good care of it, but it is the loudest thing on the inside. You cant even hear the radio with the noise this car makes. The seats are stiff and uncomfortable. You cant even fit two car seats in the backseat. (Yes I understand it isnt meant to be a big car,...

I had this car from Oct '03 to Sept '07.  The cup holders are in a terrible spot, I would have a back ache after long trips, and not a lot of leg room in the back.  The worst part about this car was how it withstood accidents.  I had a cursed car resulting in 6 accidents in 4 years (none were my fault & the car was parked unoccupied for 3 of them)  Every one of those accidents all below 40mph caused a minimum of $1,000 in damage and the average repair amount was around $5,500.  The last one a guy blew a stop sign going about 30 and I'm doing 25, the car was totaled.  I would not recommend... read full review »

My Chevy cavalier is great on gas. I have had to put extra money into repairing the chassis. I've had to replace hub wheel bearings, brakes, drums, etc. The body is going to fall apart before the engine wears out. There are airbags for the front driver and passenger, but no side airbags. And the cupholders are awkwardly placed right in front of your heat/air controls, so you have to move your coffee cup in order to adjust hot/ cold....The  armrest is neat and has a cup holder for the person in the back seat plus extra storage, all hidden underneath. The anchor  for child seat in the back  pops...

This car is good up until your first collision.  The car is designed to crumple on impact and it will never run the same.  I only had one warranty problem which was fixed before my big accident after owning the car for 3 years.  Apparently a lot of Cavaliers were having a problem with the wiring for the AC.  My AC selector got stuck and I was unable to change where I wanted the air to come out from.  I took it in and they fixed it.  My wife's Cavalier had the same problem slightly before I did.  She also has a 2004 Cavalier.

my cavalier is good on gas, but is very cramped on the inside. i do like the fact that there are hooks for my sons carseat but you have no leg room in the back. my 18 hour trip was good overall but i would not want to be in the back seat for 18 hours. i dont like where the cup holders are its very inconvenient bc it covers my heat and air panel

Chevy Cavalier was first unveiled, buyers had a choice of two engines. Base models were motivated by a 2.2-liter, 120-horsepower four-cylinder. Those seeking more power could choose a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine good for 150 hp. After just one year, the car is good for young teens.
