Okay, I can be kind of old school when it comes to certain foods so before I baught this I was using an old style hand cranked meat slicer for easy to make sandwiches around the house and it was an undertaking. I would have to stand there and crank while my fiance tried to push the meat hard enough for it to actually work. Now I have the Chef's Choice Premium Electric Food Slicer and it is so much easier. You still have the control though which I like because otherwise I get scared that someone else in the house could get hurt or that somehtign might happen. I know it may sound silly but ya. One warning though is that when you clean it you have to take off the blade or you get all this smuff stuck in it and it can get gross but be very careful because the black is extremely sharp.

I purchased the Chef's Choice 610 Premium Electric Food Slicer eight months ago as I was just getting into making my own jerky, and wanted to be able to slice beef roast into thin strips to go into my marinade. It work really well, but I was only making jerky a couple of times a month, so the slicer was sitting idle a lot. Then it occurred to me that this thing might be good for slicing my homemade sandwich bread. Yes! I now keep my Chef's Choice Slicer at the ready at all times as I bake a dozen or more loaves of sandwich bread every week. This unit has a simple dial that allows you to easily select the thickness of the cut you want. It operates very smoothly. It is nice and stable on the counter, and doesn't take up much space at all. And it comes apart effortlessly for cleaning. I like that you can order replacement blades as needed, and there's even a sharpener available, but after months of use mine is still as sharp as ever! And you just can't beat the price for this kind of quality.

I thought very carefully before purchasing this slicer.  I knew it would be handy to have, but wasn't sure I wanted the extra cleaning, etc. involved. I am very glad I purchased the slicer.  I can buy meats and cheeses in bulk and slice them to my specifications, depending on the use of the meat or cheese-sandwiches, dinner meat, etc. It is easy to clean and operate.  It does take up a decent amount of space. I purchased the optional ham blade, as the one that comes with it is serrated.  It works well, but the ham blade makes slicing some items easier and neater.
