My wife bought two silicone pans a few months ago and every-time I went to bake, I assumed they were some crazy contraption to put a hot Pyrex or non stick baking pan into to cool.

How wrong I was!  I don't know if I have been asleep for the last several years, but it turns out that they can now make silicone that can resist heat up to 600 degrees.  These silicone pans can be used in place of more traditional glass or metal pan.   I would not have believed it if I had not tried it myself, but it worked great.

I just baked a apple/blackberry crisp and it came out great.  The crisp scooped right out of the pan and it was a cinch to wash.

I am sold!  And at $7.99!  Don't you love technology?

Has anyone tested to see if toxins can leach out into the food? I am leary of using plastic for cooking in the microwave, so the oven is just as bad. Is it just a myth about plastic?

Ahh yes, just a few years ago when you mentioned the word silicone another image came to my mind....and it wasn't bakeware! I love this stuff and own a lot of it, my only complaint (and it's a small one) is I've noticed some of my baking hasn't browned like I'm used to seeing. But other than that I can't live without it!

These are awesome! We have a bunch in addition to silicone spatulas, collapsible silicone strainers and measuring cups. If it's a silicone kitchen item, we're buying it.
