I love great barbecue sauce! It's one of my passions. And, Chef Matt tickles my barbeque sauce button for sure.
When I think of BBQ, I think of NC or Kansas City. Matt is from Arizona, so he has a new twist on it, and I really like that. HIs sauces are a little nippy like in NC but have some substance like Kansas City. But, he's just in a league of his own on his sauces.
I got the three pack of Chef Matt's barbecue sauce. That's mild, hot and raspberry. All have a base with habanero peppers but not over the top. I think anyone would be fine with mild, and the hot is not the kind that is so hot that you don't know what you ate or if it was any good. The raspberry is just a really special kind of sauce with just a hint of the berries and yum so tasty.
You may be able to get Chef Matt's sauce out there on the west coast. Here, I have to Google Firefighters Barbecue Sauce (which benefits those who work hard to keep us safe) or Chef Matt's Barbecue Sauces. It takes a little more effort to go online and order the sauce, but if you have not had custom bbq sauce, then you really ought to give it a try. While I do eat off the shelf brands and like them fine, I very much appreciate something extra special like Chef Matt's sauces. There is a big difference, so if you try these out, you may just get hooked.
