I've read Lauren Weisberger's other two books, The Devil Wears Prada and Everyone Worth Knowning. They didn't knock my socks off, but they kept my interest enough that I read them all the way through. I ordered the book basically because I was fresh out of reading material and was hoping that the third time would be the charm for this author.
Chasing Harry Winston centers around three "best friends": Leigh, Adriana, and Emmy. These thirty-ish women have known each other for ten years and are in very different places in their lives. One night, they go out and making bets on what they will do in the future. Okay, the story isn't totally original, but I was willing to go with it for an entertaining story.
Unfortunately, Chasing Harry Winston wasn't all that interesting. The main characters led sad lives and they weren't believable as "best friends" since they didn't seem to do anything other than snipe at each other the whole time. I finished the book, but I have to say that it takes a lot in order for me to give up in the middle and never complete the story.
This is the third Lauren Weisberger book that I've read and it is just as mediocre as her first and second. I was hoping for some development and growth in her third novel,Chasing Harry Winston, but unfortunately it was just more of the same. I think she's found an easy, profitable groove and is just going with it. Sure, this is an easy-to-read chick-lit tale, but it isn't anything original or fascinating enough for me to recommend it to anyone.
