Chase - Credit Card Review Summary

One credit card offered by a reputable bank is the Chase Credit Card. This card is backed by a financial giant and reviewers like the customer service they receive with Chase, the reward system, and the professional attention they receive each time they call. The Chase Credit Card is “Great for Rewards” and a “Good Company”. But there are others who don’t like Chase Credit Cards due to the hidden fees and weak service. “Customer Service is as Bad as it was in the 1980’s” is a complaint voiced by one reviewer and when you add everything up, the Chase Credit Card is an average Credit Card overall that won’t be to everyone’s liking.

Regular Customer Service sometimes are not so good.

They need more training in the regular customer service area so you feel more satisfied as a customer when you get off the telephone with them.

You do have to watch their fees and rates.

But the executives are wonderful they are professional, friendly,...

I only have a Chase card because it used to be a BellSouth rewards card.  The rewards were taken away and the card ownership changed several times until it became Chase.  I only keep the card (a MasterCard) because some vendors won't accept Visa or Discover, and I used to pay my phone bill with it. ... review »

After a terrible experience with Chase in the 1980's, I decided never to waste my time with them.  Unfortunately, they bought my BankOne credit card account in recent years.  It was a great points program for Disney I had enjoyed since it was first offered.  That program paid for a large portion of 2 Disney trips.

But forget it now.  The Disney points are more than offset by outrageous fees and interest charged by Chase.  I went from a great low interest rate...to likely the highest rate allowed by law.  This for a customer of many years, with solid credit (homeowner for over 20 years,...

I obsessively check my bank balance online.  One day, I noticed that my credit card payment was much less than it should've been.  I had paid by mailing in a check, and I immediately looked at my checkbook to see if I had made a mistake.  Nope; the carbon copy had the correct amount.  The amount Chase had "credited" me was less than the minimum payment.  I'll spare you the agonizing details, but here's what I learned from this experience, in the hopes it will help others:

Chase may make a typo when processing your paper check.  They will admit that it's their typo, but only after you have...

Chase Rewards MasterCards are the best.  They offer a certain percentage back to the consumer depending on what you are purchasing.  I received (2) $25 gift cards for Gap in the past few months for purchases I have made.  I have also received $50 cash checks in the past.  A great card even when you don't like to carry a balance.  Charge it; pay it off; and reap the cashback benefit.  We are on a strict budget so every little bit can help especially when Christmas time rolls around!

The only bad issue I have had with them is the purchasing of the protector policy.  In other words...my husband...

I now hate credit cards now that I'm into debt upto my eyeballs but I would choose this one over any of the others I've got because they are an alright bank. Customer service isn't the greatest but if you have a serious problem the "higher ups"  are good at working with you. I got laid off from my job and fell behind in my payments and the good old bill collectors starting calling then I got a new job and a guy from Chase called and said if I made a series of payments he could take away some fees and get me back under my limit and on track again. Well I made the payments and at the end of it... review »

I had Chase, years ago and was so displeased with their pratices I paid the card off and closed the account.

Recently, my previous credit card company was purchased by Chase, much to my dismay. Not wanting to deal with Chase again, I paid off my the balance as stated.  They charged interest for the days that the card held a balance the previous month.  When I called to see what was going on, I got an extremely rude representative.  No one offered any solution, except "pay a little extra and we'll send you a check for the amount that you over pay."

Once I get everything settled, I will be closing...

Chase/JP Morgan is reducing credit lines and canceling credit cards based upon statistical analysis of credit card accounts.  In some cases they are not notifying the card holder that the account is closed or the credit limit reduced until after the customer finds that their card does not work.  This is a very clear example of poor business and management practices for a company that was bailed out by the taxpayers.  In my case, one credit card was from Providian, then Washington Mutual and then Chase, which had been used for 11 years with no late payments during this time.

This isn't the way...

Lots of cards that had great rebates have cut them, but Chase Freedom card still give you 3% on the top three categories of purchases, and !% on the rest.  When you accumulate $200 in rewards, it can be redeemd for a $250 check, a 25% bonus and in real cash.  The monthly rewards for bonus cash is limited to $12 (2% bonus on $600 in purchases), so you need to be aware that it is capped.

I also like the autopay feature:  I have the account linked to my bank account, so the full balance is paid every month by ACH on the due date, so I avoid late fess and interest.

Never had a problem, never...

I have a Sony Card powered by Chase. I earn Sony points every time I use it to be used towards future purchases or rewards. I originally applied for the card because I am an avid "Wheel of Fortune" fan. I keep hoping my Spin ID will come up on the show and because I am a Sony Cardholder I will receive $50,000. WOW!!

I also enjoy other benefits since I have  enrolled in Card Protection for this card.  I get a payment holiday with no interest, no payment but I have deferred my payment for 4 months because I moved. I have truly enjoyed the benefits of this card and recommend it to anyone looking...

My experience with Chase has been terrible. They failed to process a payment of mine, which I sent in 2 weeks early. They charge me for a late penalty and up the credit finance charge. When I complain they not only don't change any charges or the credit rate but are very rude. I payed it off and cancelled. what happened to customer service!!

Be very careful with offers of time sensitive low interest rates. Although I made my payment on line, on time something with their system did not accept the payment. It took several weeks and a supervisor to have all the fees reversed and my interest rate restored.

I am a Chase card user. I have been real happy with the service overall. I like that I didn't have any interest for a year when I first recieved it. It helped out not to have any added interest to the bill. I agree that customer service needs a little improvement.

I think the chase credit card is about equal to any of the others out there. You get 1% back for all your purchases. The only option that is different really is the choice to earn points or cash back, and the ability to switch between them at any time.
